This is awesome, would love to see this with some better take on brightness. If you look at Sagitarius A* when zoomed out it’s super bright but then it disappears when you zoom in at the Sun. That clearly doesn’t add up.

This actually looks great. Many people are complaining about the lack of data types, but most of the time you a) Do not have values of different types occupy the same fields b) Have a schema defined (explicitly or implicitly as part of the

Parent mentioned FAANG and to my knowledge of FB, Google and Apple, they all let their teams choose whatever is the best tool for the job, including new languages (including developing new languages, for example Reason).

The animation is awesome because it shows it would be quite hard to tell that something extreme is about to happen in the morning (when the article details you must have left to survive).

Looks nice, pretty close to what we use at FB, except we use the builder pattern, so you can compose the query more easily across function calls (instead of passing in a single bag of options to findMany).

I agree. I’d focus on a graph database, as it is a better model for most things, and can act as a dumb table too. interestingOnes = Pokemons.queryAll() .whereColor(P.equals(“grass”)) .queryWorstEnemy() .whereColor(P.notEquals(“fire”))

I think you’re being downvoted because your comment seems, especially in the first two paragraphs, to imply that: - competent programmers who do a good job write the best code in the shortest amount of time - more time always leads to worse

I tried something similar in Nim. While fun, ultimately I was faced with the reality of a lack of proper typing and other tooling support, which would be a mountain of work to add on top.

The article ignores that there are many ways to initially write code, and some are better than others. “Creating technical debt” is about not spending the time to find a good way to initially write the code, leaving it to a later point in t

Super pretty! UX-wise it might be a bit too minimal, you could take some inspiration from https://excalidraw.com/ (which itself is inspired by many other drawing tools). Concrete example: If you only have 6 "things&quo

I did find it ironic that composition was called UNIX philosophy, when most UNIX tools are complicated functions with many options much more akin to the lisp function examples. (Of course it's the "UNIX pipes" part of the phi

Your argument can be applied against await/async in general - it doesn’t allow anything Promises didn’t allow before. The reason is that it’s easy to make a mistake when destructuring the Promise.all call, and the Promise.all call does

Basically everyone in the company has access to stuff that gets leaked, so it’s not eng specific. What changed is that the company has grown immensely in numbers. Maintaining a culture among an ever growing group of people is a tough task.

What this policy completely misses is that some courses are real-time online, not recorded, and that people live in different timezones across the globe. This is extremely personally harmful to people affected.
