Do you know what blew me off? When azure executes maintenance on for instance postgresql servers, there is no record of that activity in the activity logs or anything to note in service health. The service was unavailable during the mainten

Very good ideas! As hobby I like to automate mundane tasks. I’m applying a similar approach by using iPhone Shortcuts app. See https://twitter.com/xiwenc/status/1578670843584204801?s=46&t... for how i did it b

What are the 4 isolate environments in your case? Dev, test, accp, and prod? If so, you almost slash the cost by 50% by only monitoring accp and prod. Can be accomplished by introducing a toggle in your lambda’s.

“Trusted” does not mean authorized. I have never seen any (corporate) environment that uses VPN and not require some form of authentication & authorization on top. With “trusted” status often grants those trusted users read only access

Out of curiosity, with my non-educated guess, why cant your system drop or stop producing electricity when it overloads the system? This way at least you can power your residence with solar power and drop the excess. Of course it’s stupid o

Was curious myself. Here’s the link: https://goo.gl/maps/cWou8PiXKoGPMNFL9 Did a quick look via street view. There are some very nice houses indeed. I might even say it’s the perfect location: golf course, beach and

Not everyone aims to be wealthy. Most companies do pay a decent salary (specially in europe) with good work life balance. High paying jobs often correlates with high stakes which means potentially higher level of stress.

You can use Nodeport instead of loadbalancer. Or use metallb if you insist to have LB so that it’s more closer to real production environments.

I’m surprised they did not conclude roll outs should be executed over longer period with smaller batches. When a system is complicated as theirs with so much impact, the only sane strategy is slow rolling updates so that you can hit the bra

What bothers me a lot sometimes is that i fear there is a bug in the software mute. Specially when this is implemented separately by each VC software. The bug that even if you think you are muted, the software still fed the audio to the aud

This type of attacks is why i’m not a big fan of managed identities (instance roles) in cloud providers. Suddenly one has to be very careful on what is on the OS level which creates a higher risk for compromise. This risk increases further

I would say don’t duel on this too much. Your current team seems unfit for your growth. It’s a single data point. Stay curious, ask questions, make notes (act of writing helps with memorizing). As a newcomer in the team, always ask for a bu

I’m baffled to see those in favor of AM/PM notation fail to acknowledge there is a better, less confusing, alternative. Can we call this “technical” debt? I really like the idea of saying 11:59PM instead. Despite feeling like a duck ta

Makes a lot of sense. It’s more a workaround. Also, in your case the date would be: March 24 at 11:59pm That would be close to: March 25 at 12:00am A bit less confusing but still: March 25 at 00:00am
