The organic grapes struck me as odd, too, until I remembered that organic grapes were actually cheaper than regular last time I was at the store.

Here's a visual approach to cost per calorie: http://www.mymoneyblog.com/what-does-200-calories-cost-the-e... When I made my own cost-per-calorie calculations, I found that the much maligned non-synthetic FATS are a wo

It's a disconnect that's not unique to the families NG interviewed. Take the Pima native Americans in 1905, where the women, who were quite physically active, basically treated like beasts of burden, had a distressingly high obesi

I thought NPR's piece on Harper High in Chicago was an interesting look into a culture where, despite strong gun control laws, many young people feel it's a necessity to carry guns for defense. Do they NEED guns? I don't know

Interesting! Thanks! Animals do provide high quality fertilizers and ecosystem services. I'm trying to cut out factory farmed meat. Hence, budgetary constraints cause me to choose less meat and more pastured eggs. Soy is insanely toxic

I tuned out when they started dating the emergence of a group of animals by working backwards based on a guess of how long they would have needed to achieve a certain level of genetic diversity. That's interesting as conjecture, and I

Your graph is better; the other one only provides enough info to deduce "omg! Circles!" More devastating would be to know how many are actually dying of measles/pertussis. I can't find any legitimate, non-anti-vax source

The Hebrew term "Yom" translated "day" is mentioned before the sun and moon. Also, there's an unspecified amount of time between Genesis 1:1, when "God created the heavens and the earth" and 1:2, which say
