Also, it requires opengl 3(iirc), so you can't even run on a lot of older computers(2012 era?). I can't on a x201.

build what on top of it? If i want a blocking thread i would just call a function.. something something goto something isn't a valid argument that applies to everything. The other way to propagate errors up is chaining promises.

If you are hobby programming, then not really, but in most workplaces, dependencies are usually pinned and not updated until necessary(bug fixes mostly).

In what regard EDN is "better" than JSON? the point of the post was the RFC specification is not tight and there are corner cases. I don't see any rigor in the given link either..

The difference is domain knowledge, it takes time. You might feel that way about kernel because the high level concept of resource management is pervasive in programming. So you might feel you can easily dive into it, but it will take you e

I also used to use void-linux for many of these reasons(after arch for a few years). But i have now moved to nixos. It offers me the benefits of replicating system setup(i don't backup my system folders anymore, just my homedir and the

There is zero friction if you use either error_chain/failure crate and you can still recover the precise underlying errors. The only thing is it allocates.

Yeah, i have recently finished a tokio based server. Working with future combinators is very frustrating. I accidentally captured a variable in a closure(should be cloned and moved), and it didn't tell me where it happened, just an err

Keybase protocol is public. Write your own client(or you know fork the public codebase), if you don't want to get jammed by "crypto junk".

Can you define what you mean by "the ugliest"? SML is used in academics because the language is very well-defined(both semantically and typing rules) and all the fundamentals of typed functional programming, so it is preferred for

Look into javacard spec, it doesn't require a GC, but it is used everywhere(your credit card, SIM card etc.). The secure processors used here implement this spec.
