At the end of the day, our only defense against deepfakes is going to be to disregard the supposed identity of the speaker and only judge the content itself. Easier said than done.

This is because in the real world audio always arrives late compared to images. Our brain is trained to compensate. Personally I start getting annoyed when the delay is above +200ms or under -50ms.
