I've never felt more like a slave than under the tyranny of a bad scrum master.

That was true before the 3.0 release. Why didn't the people offended by "master" just change the branch name? Because it was never about their own branch names. It was about everyone else's.

I run a dedicated firewall/dns box with netfilter rules to rate limit new connections per IP. It looks like I may need to change that to rate limit per /16 subnet...

I tried KDE on several different occasions this year, and each time the bottom panel froze on me when trying to configure it, usually within the first minute or two. It felt a bit like I was still using KDE4 when it was first released.

I've used a lot of Rust and Haskell over the past few years (I consider OCaml to be similar), and I think the benefits go beyond just user preference. But I think it's something that requires experience with "must not fail&qu

AI is going to be more impactful than social media I'm afraid. But the two together just might be catastrophic for humanity.

I haven't been able to stomach Windows since Vista, and I can barely stomach MacOS. Linux has spoiled me.

My only problem is it seems to be buggy still. I just tried it on Fedora 42, and I configured the panel to my liking. Now I cannot get the panel to auto hide or dodge windows, no matter what I try. sigh

Haven't you heard? Sales force doesn't hire programmers anymore. AI is all their CEO needs. ;p. Seriously though, this behavior reminds me of Oracle, and is a great reminder that proprietary software can very quickly become a bi

Other than being immutable, I doubt it. Immutable distros tend to rely on flatpaks to dynamically install new packages. Unfortunately the flatpak codebase is largely unmaintained at this point, and nearly impossible to get changes merged

I vastly prefer Podman over Docker. No user/group fuss, no security concerns over a root process. No having to send data to a daemon.

Those are big quality of life improvements. I wish the other lisps would follow suit. I suppose I could just implement them myself with some macros, but having it standard would be sweet.

I actually really appreciate Racket's judicious use of square brackets in let expressions. It just makes visual parsing that much easier.

Ultimately, what drives human creativity? I'd say it's at least partially rooted in emotion and desire. Desire to live more comfortably; fear of failure or death; desire for power/influence, etc... AI is void of these thin

While I use functors, applicatives and monads all the time in Haskell, I have no idea what half of these symbols mean. Are these specific to category theory?

This is why I start with something very simple. If I detect the candidate is getting paralyzed with nerves, I'll reassure them and give little hints to help bring them out of it. After successfully completing a simple exercise, they u

I would assert that nearly anyone can find a place to walk, or climb stairs, even if it's while they eat or work. Healthy food may be harder to come by for some, either because of expense or lack of availability. But again, fasting i

Walking is quite special in this regard, because it doesn't seem to result in the same compensatory eating that more intense exercise does.

So exercise, eating healthy, fasting, brushing/flossing teeth, consistent sleep schedule, daily sun exposure, good relationships, and stress management all depend on a health insurance plan?

I absolutely love beef. A good ribeye steak, or some smoked brisket are two of my favorite foods. I was intrigued by the claims these meat alternative companies were making, so naturally I tried them all. It's not surprising to me
