As others are saying - the CO2 poisoning will make you unconscious way before O2 runs out. You can train for it tho, much like freedivers do if you plan on surviving in airtight containers for longer periods of time.

Can you correct me if I'm wrong but now Apple can repatriate some of it massive overseas cash hoard and offset it against the $450M fine without attracting any tax on it as it is a loss. technically their balance books will be $450M wo

Also no remote work either. To be honest I totally understand Google's approach here - let the young and bright live their entire lives on campuses, dump them when they're no longer productive or want family or just life outside o

If I could execute my share options finally and have enough money to reasonably last me until the end of my life, I'd probably go a similar route. It's probably bad for Twitter in the short term, but allows some upward mobility i

The article is interesting on a chemical level and explains the biochemical reactions really well. What I am really interested in is a higher level study on overall social and cognitive results of moderate drinking. I bet you 'll fin

Actually the reverse is true: you should compare XML (and related tech) vs JSON vs other options (say HTTP headers) and choose what's best for you. I've seen projects that are all about editing books and stubbornly use JSON, where

The article seems to overlook the fact that most of the 'value added' is created out of thin air and people can only tolerate so much bs. So while something like the value of Facebook likes is not immediately stealing money from i

The graph on HBR is a bit weird. Czech and Slovakia are just next to each other geographically (used to be same country), Czech are pretty far in terms of getting things done digitally and yet they are classed as rapidly receding, Slovakia

What next, actual, physical, bare metal servers for better performance? I am actually doing this already for my test instances - the server running in our office is running Linux and docker with no intermediate vm layer.

This is because the social contract still says we should all be working (and be rewarded for that work) but there is leas and less 'real' work around. So people invent 'work' like tracking marginal improvements, which ma

It is pretty cool but not really serverless, you are still handling http requests via Amazon API gateway and in general you are relying and paying for quite a lot of Amazon services. Not sure how much better this approach is to serving imag

As someone who still makes a decent living off coding, I must agree with the comments here - a better backend DB is not going to save the project. Get the users, get the contributors, listen to the feedback and don't rewrite the whole
