That's the same 'logic' that anti-maskers use. It's not about absolutes, just because something is theoretically vulnerable doesn't mean you need to throw caution to the wind.

SIM attacks target vulnerable/unnecessary applets that some clueless providers leave there, which can also affect esims according to some articles. And since no one bothers to setup actual SIM PINs anymore that too probably doesn'

No, it's more like TPM or fTPM it seems to me. Similar in purpose, not similar in structure. And external TPM are just as vulnerable.

Nonsense, practice says otherwise. There might be not much incentive for gaming console hackers other than bragging rights, but incentives for state-level actors are monumental. They either can do it and keeping it quiet or they can't.

Why aren't more devices use smartcards for signing/crypto? They are omnipresent, satellite TV receivers had them, phones have them, banking cards ARE them. And yet gaming console manufacturers would rather invent their own measure

And now the whole 'separate TPM' thing is obsolete, because newer processors will come with their own TPMs. This was a bad idea from the start if you ask me, with UEFI and shoving all sorts of things into it.

Majority of modern readers are CCID compatible, limit it to that. libccid.so is 111KB, UsbccidDriver.dll is 81KB, I'm sure they would've managed if they wanted to. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCID_(protocol)

It doesn't have to be an equivalent to be an option. Just like having no encryption is an option or auto-unlocking is an option. It's not like TPM detects that there are hardware changes, Windows itself does and it can lock it dow

MS allows to use smartcards for Bitlocker, with a caveat that it can't be used for a system disk, only TPM can be used for that which seems arbitrary. If there's an option to use TPM+PIN, then there should be an option to use smar

IOT one mentions UWF which is a killer feature in my opinion, used to run Windows in qemu with snapshot=on for that capability alone. Although Windows Sandbox might be more convenient in some cases, haven't tried it yet. https:/&

Yeah, pretty run-of-the-mill as far as similar projects go. Maybe a tad over-complicated to put it mildly. I've done something like this except not with KVM, but with headless Xorg+PulseAudio+Wine to have Hearthstone with sound over RD

For someone who wasn't really buying in into the whole secure email thing and wasn't that surprised they caved in initially this was a net positive for me now that it was tested in court. Not massively so, but still.

United (sic) States of America is full of people who think that they know better. If no matter what question or problem comes up you have an answer ready, then your problem isn't with science, you have a problem with logic.

It was like mold that suddenly grew everywhere. Monopoly of JS in browsers translated into a big share of server-side pie too. People had all the options and they chose JS still, not a situation to be happy about if you ask me.

I think it should be pretty trivial to have a hidden dualboot, let's say you have some plain boring Windows that takes 10% of you drive and 90% is unassigned. In reality that's encrypted LVM disk with bootloader on a flash drive t
