For a long time I thought that Perl 6 would be close to an ideal language for me. I haven't really questioned that belief, but it turns out http://www.red-lang.org is much closer. Let's say that I'm glad that Perl

Exactly. Also happens when people talk about would-be DSL that they made on top of existing language and mention that you can always fallback to using it. But that's the whole point of the domain-specific language that it is not a gene

I don't know the details, but there are probably many possible ways to get the PIN, since it's getting entered right then and there. Smartcard is a small computer, but the connection to it from terminal is probably not that secure

They probably just steal data from the magnetic stripe + detect key-presses somehow for a PIN.

I used to do that, as in using a minimal linux distro as a sort of hypervisor. CoreOS (when it was CoreOS), Rancher OS, TinuCoreLinux with modified kernel and running everything with rkt. But then I stopped, because I was reinventing someth

They put that in a headline - A small, fast, native Lisp. It's missleading/clickbaity.

It's useless information then, any real executable is native. In that sense you can say Perl is native (Python, Ruby, JavaScript/nodejs).

Don't try to make it a technical issue, because it totally isn't. Every single one of those files goes through a compiler of some kind. Source code gets transformed to a tree, AST, whatever. They only thing changing here is that s

Kotlin solves what Scala didn't. Great Java interop, first class IDE support, easier to get into. Whichever way you look at it Kotlin code is nicer than Java, even if written Java-like.

The point is to remove obstacles that prevent you from introducing backward incompatible changes into the language, obstacles than prevent your language from evolving. Implementations can support several specifications of the language, you

First, JVM vendors have to conform to specifications, that's all. And introduction of invokedynamic and other stuff that makes it easier for other JVM languages to exist obviously means that they aren't against the idea. All in al

It's plenty better. You're saying on the source code level that it's not designed to be run by anything but an implementation of that specification version.

Some languages have official versions than you need to declare right at the start. As in specification version, not implementation versions.
