I'm mostly using it as a base, as a hypervisor of sorts for docker and libvirt. Anything else I need I can access with those. State of the system declaratively described in a few files, what's not to like? From limited experience

There's no reason not to use BigNum type equivalent in your program where computation intensive tasks are not expected, when language supports them well enough.

> Is Kotlin actually simpler than Scala? Java was described as "blue-collar language". I probably won't call Scala that, but it fits Kotlin fine in my opinion. another comment on that subject https://news.ycombi

No, that's not how it works. No one is forced to write Kotlin I don't think. Plenty of people have to use Java. The fact that Kotlin is a simpler language than Scala is a feature, not a bug.

Scala is a non-starter for a lot of people, especially in Android development. Kotlin is much better than Java and that is good enough for me.

No one invented anything better than Commander-type UI for dealing with files. For non-trivial tasks I'd fire up vifm.

I can tell you where in my opinion visual programming works (or can work if anyone actually bothered), but you probably not gonna like it. First step is to think about IDE assisted programming as a proto visual programming. Second step is t

JS didn't take over the world, web did. And if we don't talk plugins, then there wasn't much choice in the matter if you wanted to do things clientside.

I never really used Sublime, but I find the idea of splitting an editor into frontend and backend to be worth exploring. Lime does it https://github.com/limetext/lime , NeoVim does it.

Major selling point is the ability to mix Kotlin and Java freely. I just find it funny how Scala guys are saying "me too" at every opportunity. But that always comes with an asterisk, if you look closely. IDE support is as good, J

The way I see it - the fact that alternative JVM languages are so underused is a damn shame. And if it becomes more acceptable to not use Java, then all such languages will benefit. For many reasons Kotlin is better as a champion of such a

Do you have a spare M/KB or a KVM switch of some kind? Then what you should do is pass an USB hub (most MBs have more than one built-in anyway) to the VM and connect second pair of M/KB there.
