I was not aware of these scams thanks to using ad blockers and not living in a country that is being targeted that much. A good way to educate elders might be by showing them some scam videos [1] [1] https://www.youtube.com/

This is a win-win situation for Google. I doubt they haven't done the maths. If they lose a percentage of the userbase, but get increased revenue, it's only logical to do that. If their userbase decreases, their monopoly status al

It would be ironic if the USA government tried to regulate or fine Google on this, while at the same time selling heavy weaponry to SA.

Considering that Chinese tech companies have grown dramatically because of the GWoC and have enough money to invest left and right in foreign countries, it would be nice, but utterly unrealistic, if EU could copy that success model. EU valu

I can't stress enough how helpful and interesting the /r/rust sub is to me. I have always received at least a few replies to my questions, no matter how noob or hard they are. One of the most wholesome programming communities

I'm currently working alone making less than 10K per year. My networking is not great and I wasn't able to land a job in many smaller than Amazon companies. I wouldn't leave even a 50K job, let alone an order of magnitude of

If you haven't tried fresh carrot juice, you don't know what you're missing. I got myself this cheap machine for that purpose: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=mean+juice+machine&t=chromeos&iax=...

Does anybody have experience with thin clients connected to buffed workstations or servers? My laptop is pretty good for scripting and light compile jobs, but if I could just code on it and forward the heavy computing to my other buffed com

Unfortunately they denied my application when I tried to get one during my college years. I felt envy seeing some my peers (who had no existing repos, or far fewer than me) get free PRO accounts while github probably though I should just bu

A good alternative to Spotify is Deezer. Instead of ads, in their free tier, they make me listen to sponsored songs by artists I'd never have heard of.

vscode has pretty good support for rust. If you need something more advanced, you can try clion from jetbrains with the intellij-rust plug-in.

Ruby helped me grasp the basic OOP concepts when I was a teenager, just by reading tutorials and blog posts during the time RoR was all the rage. It was one of those unexpected moments of extreme enlightenment I haven't experienced in

I'd also hesitate wasting resources in such a way. About your first statement though, which server software do you use that still sends data after the client has closed the connection? Doesn't it use hearbeats based on ACKs?

Good money can buy a good chunk of 0-day exploits from black hats. I wonder how many companies rely on in-house exploit research and what would be the turnaround related to buying from 3rd parties.

It will be interesting to see how this goes. If the users are serious about the right to choose for themselves. If they dislike adverts. Spotify may experience some business shrinkage. That could signal a reversal of one catastrophic aspect

This is also my biggest curiosity related to Poole. I've read on /g/ that he's been working on Google Plus. In the thread I read that, people were joking that he is going to get fired now that the project is sun-setting,
