I picked up an old UltraSPARC Sun server a while back for $10. Never got it running as I didn't understand serial connections and it was annoyingly loud.

I do that too, sort of. My pinned tabs are either VK/Facebook messenger, or things I plan on getting to later (interesting software to install, movies to watch, ...)

You're right. Ever since distros made systemd default, computers all over the world have been catching fire, exploding, shooting jets of lava from their headphone jacks. It's the end times

Telstra's copyright notice is at: 101.167.166.53 Optus's one is: 54.79.39.115 Easy to find, just `dig A thepiratebay.se @<isp_dns_server>` Cannot access TPG's, iiNet's or Habour ISP's DNS servers, probably bec

Yes, yes, yes! Never has someone articulated what I believe so damn well. There is so much blind worship of tradition and heroes in the UNIX world, so glad to see someone else believes what I've always believed.

I hate memes too, but give this article a go. It's pretty good.

Maybe I'm just getting better at C, but this was particularly well written and easy to follow.

And nobody ever seemed to say "hey, maybe we should be using something more secure". Yahoo's been around for how many decades, and the fact they were still using MD5 in 2013 is just shameful. Yeah if it was some legacy code f

As someone who still considers himself a beginner at C, busybox source code is fun as hell to read. So many "Oh, so that's how you do that" moments.

Oh man they are rare but they are definitely still out there. Think printers from the 90's that came with chargen & usually telnet enabled by default, and for some reason are publicly accessible.

Thank you, I've actually been interested in the answer to this question for many years! Never was able to solve it via googling.

You'd have to be very wary about where you do that though, most VPS hosts don't mind relays but don't allow exit nodes, some allow both and some allow neither. Speaking from experience, DigitalOcean and Vultr seem to be cool

Nice one :) I do the same to IRC botnets, but mainly phishers, I must admit. The botnets I see always seem to use that one Perl script, the "servidor" one, written in Portugese.

Whatever side you're on, it's a damn shame what's happened in the Donbass. All the industry bombed to shit, thousands killed, more jobless and forced into poverty. And it doesn't look like it will be over anytime soon. I

I remember thinking Buzzfeed's long form articles (I think they have a name, but I forgot it) are actually really good. Not just "good for Buzzfeed", but legitimately interesting, insightful and well written.

I agree with this so much. Two other things that annoy me about the new OS X design: - Helvetica everywhere. Helvetica, whilst not bad , has somewhat poor readability (not legibility) in body copy. I find it much harder to read than the ol

There's nothing wrong with unnecessary textures though. I think that's the point the author was trying to make, stuff like that adds a bit of character. Get rid of all the textures, and what do you have, another Bootstrap website.

I love nano, I've got absolutely no interest in vim or emacs. First things I do with it is set up colour highlighting, make it never break lines, and make it go into the background with ^Z. If I'm ever held back by nano, I've
