It's also a big problem that trading firms absolutely hate remote work because of their secrecy/security demands. I've been working remote for the past seven years. Sorry not sorry, but I'm never again going to work in a

The reason Johnnies always win the croquet match is because they practice. I'm not sure if Navy cadets have time to do that.

Yes, it's missing crucial works like Cur Deus Homo and On the Incarnation by St Athanasius as well as some of the ones you mention, but I think some of those are in the curriculum if you look a little harder. One needn't be a

Try Internet Archive or Google Books. I think most of them can be found there, though maybe not in the corresponding editions.

Since the advent of Spotify and other streaming services, I listen to a much greater variety of music. And it's music that I never would have heard if had to pay per song or album.

What I've found is that the trick with Spotify is to listen to the user-curated playlists, not the Spotify-created playlists. I've discovered a lot more music, and a wider variety of music, that way.

I just finished saying that I've been all over Japan. And you missed where I said that Japanese culture is in many ways exceptional and not like other cultures. It's not like the rest of SE Asia, for instance, where there's n

Expertise takes time to acquire. I’m skeptical of people who claim to be experts in too many things While I believe this is true, the problem with the statement is that these resumes and candidates are not claiming expertise; they are lis

I've been to Japan many times. Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya. Japanese culture is exceptional in many ways—you can't pretend that their culture is normative when applied to the west. My point still stands. You can't pay service staff

It's difficult to explain the cause. You can't really account for it by a simple tipping/no tipping divide. In other countries that don't do tipping, you'll end up wishing they did because the service is so abysmal.

I agree; the haters have politically-motivated brainworms. The actual user experience is a lot better now than when Dorsey was in charge, especially if you live outside of North America.

Same here. Traditionally, I always waited for the point one release before upgrading. This time with Ventura, for the first time I just updated to the point zero release and crossed my fingers. No problems, so I'm quite pleased.

Ehhh. Nobody's "simping for Musk" in this thread. You should just evaluate Twitter on its own merits. Don't worry about the fact that Elon Musk doesn't march lockstep to woke orthodoxy.

Do you really think that "Space Karen" is a clever insult? It's such a boring meme. You might as well just print a "Spaceman Bad" t-shirt so that everyone knows your approach to technology is motivated by politics.

Yeah, the "For You is only for Elon" thing isn't a smart take. Makes me think he hasn't been around Twitter very long. From my perch down here in southeast Asia, Twitter is better than it's ever been at this point.
