I'm Daniel. Looking for a fully remote Junior DevOps role. I have experience in sysadmin roles and typical Ops workflows. I am interested in learning as much as I can and progressing and improving; I will always say "yes" to

Anecdotal, but I once had a friend and roommate that came from an ex-Mennonite family of 12 siblings with two sets of twins. He and one of his brothers both developed late-onset Tay-Sachs disease. Although relatively high-functioning and ab

I very rarely see my desktop, since I almost always have a full-size terminal window with a split running, along with a browser window, Finder, VSCode, Preview, Pages, and other apps open. I think the use case this is designed for is people

I'm a former sysadmin and as such can remember the days when it was almost considered fun (at least by nerds) to run your own mail server. Those days are long gone, and the reason why is that monopolistic companies hate open protocols

I'd like to try it, but the landing page writing doesn't inspire confidence that this is a polished product. If the developers are reading this comment, I might be able to help tighten and smooth that out. I have 99.9999% English

I currently have 41 reputation on SO. 1 silver badge and 5 bronze badges. Almost all of which I recently earned by answering an obscure Vim configuration question. And here's the thing: I've been on the site for 12 years and 4 mo

There are still a lot of these old phpBB style forums in the wild, and some of them are still going strong. I have in mind TDPRI, Steve Hoffman, and Whiteblaze: https://www.tdpri.com/ https://forums.stevehoffman.

I formerly worked for a FAANG, but I come from quite humble circumstances: I grew up on a small farm in Pennsylvania. Also, I've been in this industry for years but I've never "vested and rested." The vast majority of pe

Not a resume expert, but one thing that I think is bad are the multiple page resumes. You should try as hard as you can to make it fit on one page. It's so much easier to get recruiters to read a one page resume.

I agree with the other comment...don't take it too hard. All the old heads here have been through this a few times before. The dot-com bomb. Then 2008. It will all come back up in time. Software isn't going away.

One of my faves is the guy who created Homebrew getting turned down by Google even though something like 80% of the company uses it. Or how about the time a clueless recruiter asked DHH how many years of Rails experience he had and he repli
