You can take the moral high ground. Because laws can be wrong, an breaking wrong laws can be right. Imho the economics of scarcity that is behind copyright is morally problematic. Thus breaking copyright laws could be right under some circu

I fully agree with this post. And it would not surprise me if parallels could be found with the so called 'Broken Windows' (no pun intended ;) theory from criminology. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory That is, similarly

I'm currently in San Francisco with a H1B at Academia.edu, a reasonably well-funded startup (not that early stage, but still only 5 developers and very much a great startup atmosphere), so it happens. Also, they/we did/do interviews through

I am moving into San Francisco from Europe, and exactly in this situation of city versus further out. By Americans SF is probably considered a car-free, and public transportation friendly city, but as an European I am shocked to see that al

I wrote this blog-post & essay/paper about HN a couple of weeks back. My finding was that there is not really a best time to post (in general, rather than asking questions) in terms of the number of replies you would get (but I only hav

Thanks for the feedback. Especially as ironically enough the post does not seem to have made it to the frontpage, so yours is pretty much the only feedback it received ;) (...guess my post was too academic even for HN users' taste...)

It would be good if the data/information were at least available somewhere, such as through an API. I must admit that as somebody studying social science of the internet, and interested in data in general, I might not be your typical user,

I agree with most of this analysis, and it is why, even though iOS/OSX/etc offer great stability, are esthetically pleasing, and well-designed, I won't go the Apple way (I have been using Linux for over a decade now). Zittrain, among others
