The hardest part of rooting my android phone was reactivating it via Verizon's minimally qualified tech support. (I'm pretty sure it is required for all baseband upgrades but even then you could just write down the steps and codes for the

Actually it really looks as though the wings only provide lift and that acceleration provided by the car could not be achieved otherwise and the forward movement could not be achieved therefore making it rather unlikely that the plane would

Every time I set up a server with yum I have to look up how to install development tools, groupinstall just doesn't really click with me. Pacman and apt are both better imo, and apt-get build-dep is really great when you need to do a source

It depends on what you are using the server for and who is using the server. Ubuntu and debian are used by plenty of people in production and are probably the better choice for learning how to set up a server if you already use ubuntu. Apt

I don't read very many articles on Hacker News and I think I get a lot more out of it by being my own add on filter. I avoid articles from techcrunch, nytimes, and basically any majorish news source (they usually can't keep my attention for

Actually a better but probably a lot harder to get metric would be active blogs as I know I have created an account on all the sites to see how they work. And don't throw blogger out if you are adding big blogs.

For some reason I thought that development was being done in php. Other than that I'm somewhat dismayed that their open source release isn't actually running on some site and says run at your own risk due to security issues. Edit: (Looks li

I think it just depends on the person, I'm sure there are people who do just fine with 6 or 7 hours a sleep on average per night but If I don't get 8 or close to it I do suffer (there probably are people who need 10 hours a night as well).

I have a ps3 as well and most of my experiences with bluray have been pretty much the same as dvd with the exception of terminator 2 (skynet edition I think) which took forever to load. The real problem is that I can't see much of a differe

Factor really needs a book or more beginner documentation, that is in my opinion the main thing really holding it back as the visual repl and help browser are quite nice among other things.

I really like Isaac Asimov's essays, at least most of the ones I have read. There are a huge number of them on many topics too: http://www.asimovonline.com/oldsite/essay_guide.html (A little searching and many/most of them are on someones

If you just want it for https wouldn't a low cost ssl cert work? Like say comodo positive ssl which is only like 10 dollars a domain (but doesn't do subdomains, though neither does your godaddy one it seems, I didn't check the others). Thes

I don't really have a problem but the licensing is a problem for other people, not to mention that it contains binary blobs (I don't know if it is windows only) for it to work which greatly reduces how much a person can see how the program

You can use ubuntu without opening the terminal, and have been able to for a while, the problem with linux is not the terminal it is whether or not the hardware is supported and software people need is supported.

My droid has similar hardware and it works pretty good without overclocking, check around though because I don't have firsthand experience with a G1 but they do indeed still make roms for it with froyo.

Before you upgrade may I suggest rooting your phone, you don't have to worry about a brick if you are moving on anyway (though I don't think that happens much with android devices), and then you can have 2.2 through a rom.
