I find it funny that all of the end-of-technology-as-we-know-it criers never talk about bicycling and local farming.

The problem for most of us in the US is that we can't control how much they refrigerate moste public places. We keep our home ~80F(it makes going outside in south Texas much more comfortable), but that makes my office very uncomfortable at

I think part of this problem comes from the number of blog posts that don't reference versions when explaining something. This adds to confusion if the topic has changed and the post is not updated/marked out of date.

Have you tried with the upcoming robotics companies? iRobot, Foster-Miller, and Boston Dynamics tend to be outside of the startup bubble but might be more receptive to someone with a background in control theory. My biggest problem when I t

It's not just the quantity of queries, it's what the application does. Twitter needs to do specific things very quickly(in this case answer search queries). You could look at a more general high-traffic site(like Facebook) to find a differe

I wonder how much of the new-user experience is to avoid an eternal september? Allowing people to easily sounds off on a few things and leave(like I'm doing right now) is not conducive to building a community.

Try an IDE designed specifically for whatever language you're working in. Most will have key commands to do just about anything you can do with Textmate. Spend a little time trying to customize and learn the environment. This will give you

Great post, I really want to play with Clojure, but when I looked into it last year it was very apparent that it was built on Java. Not just the JVM, but the Java ecosystem, you were expected to use Maven or Ant for building, jdbc for datab

I don't know if I agree with their methodology; YouTube, Blogger, and MSN are probably not the best source of information about the programing community.

You should try exercising in the morning. Lay out your running stuff before you go to bed. In the morning get out of bed and off for your run before you feel to tired to talk yourself out of it. This will also remove the 2-3 hour brain warm

Rackspace is looking for developers(mostly Ruby, Python, and Java). We have several locations, but most of the development is in San Antonio, TX and Blacksburg, VA - http://www.rackertalent.com/ .

I think it's more about the worry that if your chosen provider goes away you have no way to run the service yourself. You would have to rewrite everything using google storage to S3 instead of just migrating data centers.

If you look into what some of the biggest projects are using you can get an idea about what is popular. It would be nice to have a 'required by' section on the hackage page similar to the citations section on citeseer.
