Icons in menu bars serve the same purpose as icons elsewhere: quickly identifying buttons. I don't know why this is such a big deal.

AIs can barely handle PKCE OAuth flow. It’s not very hard to confuse them.

Thank you very much for this recommendation! Most of my work is in Xcode, and in an ideal world Xcode would just support third-party syntax highlighting (or LSP), and I've been looking for a Mac-assed simple editor for those scenarios

Arbitrary precision arithmetic (GMP, BigInteger, etc). Numbers can take arbitrary amounts of memory, instead of just a single machine word.

“Implicitly implied” is redundant. Either of these phrasings would suffice: > It is implicit in many comments. > It is implied in many comments.

I take it this only supports Apple’s built-in actions, and doesn’t plug into the broader AppIntents system? AppIntents includes a packaging concept, would be cool to see if this could use third-party AppIntents in a similar way to how scien

Re: module name selectors, wasn't this already possible, e.g. ModuleA.getValue()? Though I suppose this disambiguates if you also have a type called ModuleA.

While doing Instacart deliveries here in Maine, I dropped off a leave-at-the-door order which requires uploading a picture of the shopping bags at the entrance. However, there wasn’t any service in the rural area I was delivering to, and th

I don’t know what I thought CNC stood for (something with Cutting in the name presumably) but I definitely didn’t think it stood for Computer Numerical Control.

I would say that Go is extremely explicit, but I wouldn’t say it’s verbose. Or, I suppose you could say that Go is semantically verbose (explicit error handling, no/low use of generics, no operator overloading), but syntactically conci

I also find it frustrating, but I’ve come to appreciate that it’s a way to at least partially sidestep the hard problem of naming things. There are still idioms and choices to make, but using abstract symbols makes it easier to play with th

I’ll admit the builder DSL stuff is a bit of a Turing tarpit for me. I may have wasted the day yesterday trying to implement a BNF grammar DSL.

Seriously, I keep waiting for the FOMO to kick in but the M1 is still so great that I don’t have any. The only hiccups I ever have are resolving Swift result builder types…perhaps SwiftUI is just a big ploy to burn up all the extra CPU cycl

I don’t know why “repeat” isn’t very common in place of while/loop/etc; it works out nicely grammatically. repeat {} repeat while <condition> {} repeat {} while <condition> repeat <count> {}

Something worth noting that I just noticed: on macOS (zsh), <somefile on its own seems to automatically page the output, whereas cat will simply print the entire file. So I think I’d definitely tend to prefer <somefile when building

You can still just begin with <somefile instead of cat somefile |. Does it really matter? No, but I don’t think pointing out useful and concise built-ins is necessarily asinine.
