I hear a lot of complaints about Apple’s generated passwords, but I like them a lot and find them quite easy to memorize for the reasons listed in the article. Safari also (sometimes) can recognize when “special” characters aren’t allowed,

Worth comparing to Swift’s LazySequenceProtocol [0]. Various Sequences have a .lazy property that returns some LazySequenceProtocol<Element>, so you can opt in to this sort of fluent-style method chaining where it makes sense. [0] ht

Thank you for your work on the library! It really couldn’t be easier to package but thank you <3

Heh, I maintain the MacPorts port for this lib! Like all suckless projects, it’s written in very simple and portable C which makes it a breeze to package. https://ports.macports.org/port/libgrapheme/

mpv has less UI affordances than VLC, but it’s very full-featured and configurable. It’s kind of like the ffmpeg to VLC’s Handbrake. Of course, if you really want to be a purist you could use ffplay.

MacPorts is awesome. The PortGroups also make it super easy to make new packages.

Indeed. ChatGPT has been extremely valuable for “what’s the right way to glue these two iOS frameworks released a decade apart together” for me.

Yeah, the genmoji feel like a proper Apple feature, but the full images feel cheap and pointless.

I never thought I’d see the day macOS would get tiling window management. Wonder how it will interact with Stage Manager if at all.

MacPorts is vital for package management—has many more packages than Homebrew, a more sane implementation, and was co-created by Jordan Hubbard who worked for Apple and also created the FreeBSD ports system. Also pretty straightforward to c

I’m honestly more curious about the display connector. AFAIK 4K120/8K60 already max out a single modern Thunderbolt/DisplayPort connection’s bandwidth. Is it using 8-9 separate display cables?

Desktop customization is largely the reason I learned Linux and programming. Over time I’ve come to abhor knobs and arbitrary decisions I must make as a user. I find macOS’s opinionated, largely very thoughtful design a relief at this point
