Speaking of interaction with the admin. Back in the days when I was in school, the computer lab ran a Honeywell mainframe with terminals. I wrote a program emulating the logon screen to intercept the username and password of the unsuspect

Booking.com has a higher chance for errors compared to hotels' direct bookings since its information is secondhand and unreliable. For the hotels with direct booking avenues, why use booking.com?

When was the last time you booked direct with a hotel where they were overbooked and they refused to walk you to another hotel when you showed up? Which hotel is it? We can call them up to ask them to clarify their policy. Edit: Here'

I'm moving my comment here because I'm not sure why people are repeating the false information about 3rd parties providing lower prices than direct booking because of some contracts. That's simply not true. I just did a sear

That's simply not true. I just did search to see if anything has changed. I searched for hotels in the Seattle area for a 5/18 reservation. The 3rd item in a hotel's result [1] is the direct hotel's price. It matches

Numerous times I’ve booked direct with the hotels and it’s cheaper than or same as 3rd party.

If a hotel double booked you and you showed up, the hotel would walk you to a nearby similar hotel all paid for by the hotel. The “walk” process is a standard industry practice.

That quote has been misunderstood by many. What Hoare and Knuth indented was for people to think of algorithm and design optimization first instead of doing micro optimization prematurely. Instead people stop all kinds of optimization.

UI designer really needs to avoid pushing tall horizontal bars. Often a website takes up more 1/3 of the vertical screen space with FIXED bars. No I don’t care to stare at your search bar. Not everyone works on a big desktop monitor.

That's excellent news. Does this mean GIMP would work well with high DPI monitor now? I.e. the text on menus and window titles won't be so small?

For the ORDER BY in grouped table (F868), it's kind of weird. I guess it's a special case with narrow usage. In the example, product_id is unique (as PK) along with product_code being unique. There's one product_id for each

Also, while trie looks better on paper than hashtable in regarding to complexity analysis, in reality hashtable can be 2X~3X faster than trie. This is because the hash key can be computed very fast with the key data fitted in a L1 cache li

While the interview question is a fun exercise, the complexity analysis presented is wrong. For part 1 using a hashtable to look up the dictionary words, the complexity is not O(n^2) where n is the length of the input string. It should be

The old Linux system api has not been changed much. It’s still pretty much the same. The new addition doesn’t obsolete the old stuff. That’s why the book is still relevant.

The problem with rotary engine is that its max power efficiency is at a very narrow rpm range and loses power at most other rpm ranges. This is due to the constant air intake inherent in the design. Piston engine has variable valve air int
