I'm not surprised. The article struck me as particularly amateurish, which is unfortunate because the situation is an unusually nuanced and interesting one on a topic that's constantly talked about.

I don't think YouTubers generally do refer to themselves as content creators, as opposed to Creators (a term promoted by YouTube but embraced by the community).

This doesn't make any sense. The discussion is the pay that buzzfeed pays their content creators. If the market for platforms was wide open, that wouldn't change much about this situation, since there would still be an oversupply

Well, sort of. Not if they remove it. The fact that they (mostly) haven't exercised this control so far over world leaders' tweets is a matter of internal policy at Twitter.

"Pretty handsome" is relative. Pewdiepie is a good-looking guy, but his analogues on Instagram are 1000x more so. And I can't imagine someone like Casey Neistat becoming remotely as big an Instagram star as he is on YouTube.

I think most top YouTubers are considered "creators" more than "influencers". It takes a substantially different set of skills to create videos people want to watch than photos people want to view, and intuitively you&#x

What a bizarre comment. Did you even read the comment you're responding to? It said "blaming the incident on deregulation is annoying because it was regulators' fault". Veracity of the claim aside, how on earth do you ge

What do you see in the parent comment that says they _shouldn't_ do this? It's just laying out that they _are_ doing it, in direct response to a comment wondering why their site is so terrible.

In what way is "internet access" equivalent to "the unchecked availability and aggressive marketing of unhealthy, addictive junk food" in this analogy? I'm quite sure you've misunderstood the analogy.

It seems like a fool's errand to me to stamp out 100% of bias. Any bar that requires subjective assessment creates an opening for bias, and not every job can be assessed entirely by a completely mechanical rubric. This is what things l

That's what makes the problem so bedeviling. Journalism has been afflicted with the same maximalist, parasitic ideology as every other institution. But other institutions have a couple of paths out: the profit motive has the advantage
