I'm curious as to what you've worked on in your career? I mainly ask because we are 100% Django/Flask. :)

In my search for a senior Python developer I have encountered dozens and dozens of resumes whose Python experience consists almost exclusively of Numpy and data entry. Not at all the skill set I’m looking for.

I’m a very happy GCP user. Cloud Functions are ass but Cloud Run is amazing, and as far as Python versions go, if you can make a Docker image of it you can use Cloud Run. Scale to zero. Automatic load balancing. Any Docker image. Yes please

You can’t just hand wave away the benefits of the ctrl-z/x/c/v which cannot be remapped. Each of these incredibly common and useful shortcuts must be fully abandoned or used with both hands in Dvorak, causing the right hand t

Hard disagree to “Just use Dvorak”. The most common keyboard shortcuts all require two hands in Dvorak meaning that if you’re used to ctrl-c/v, you must remove your hand from the mouse for each one. Colemak fixes this issue completely

The solution is as obvious as it is effective: take our voices off of the internet. Only face to face can possibly matter or be trusted. Yes, it will slow down the pace at which we hurl ourselves into technological nihilism. But that’s a go

My comment contained some snark. I’m just tired of the “both sides” that even your comment is full of. Social media preys upon inherent weaknesses in the human psyche because humans were never meant to be this connected and we lack the ment

I _hate_ time travel in movies unless the movie is only about time travel. It's such a cop-out. Can't figure out how do to it? Just use time travel! But the rest of your comment I agree with.

We didn't lose it, so much as we gave it away when we had the opportunity. The choice provided by the Internet -> streaming dissolved that glue as each of us chose what to watch according to our own preference. I think there is a la

Parents in walkable cities also want extracurriculars for their children. It's the suburb that makes the shuttling to/from required. Sidewalks are illegal for cycling, and even if a stroad had a shoulder, the vehicle speeds make i

Perhaps. But if you consider: 1. The cost of printing/transcribing something 2. Literacy rates 3. Constraints tied to physical distribution ...the reach of that potentially "anonymous speech" was the tiniest fraction of what
