Yeah, the domestication of the silver fox is one of those really cool stories but also—to someone as astute as you—is a bit of a cautionary tale about unintended consequences.

That's why my favourite language does represent source code as trees… That is, in Lisp the source is lists of lists and atoms, which are trees of data. It's pretty cool.

Lisp is optionally statically-typed. I am not aware of any type error Java can catch at compile time which Lisp cannot catch at compile time. Now, whether or not a particular implementation does catch it is an entirely different affair.

Yup. I'd really like to see the same comparison done today.

Now that the dominant languages seem to be dynamic languages like Python, Ruby & JavaScript, I wonder if Lisp's edge in development speed is as pronounced; OTOH, I wonder if it has an increased edge in stability and/or securit

I would think that in an ideal world the old device would sign a statement indicating that the new device has full authority to act on its behalf in the future. In a less-ideal world, it'd be nice if there were a way to sync devices wi

Perhaps the skills needed to find, recruit and manage janitorial staff are different from the skills needed to find, recruit and manage developers? Almost every company outsources electricity generation, too.

Why don't we use cryptography to guard against false routes? If each IP range were signed-for, then I think a relatively simple protocol could be used to document which networks a network could route for.
