I understand why he may not want to do it but simply commercializing the software could keep it going, then use that money to help defeat the cooyright infringers. But that is business which he probably never wanted to do. He wanted to code

Nah I like New Scientist and Quanta Magazine etc… to give me an insight into a complicated topic. It isn’t adequate for a professor to understand the subject to write a thesis sure, but there is no harm in more people kinda understanding so

Hard to say. I go with DHH: the one that makes you happy. Since you won’t know maybe just pick something mainstream. But I am against nodejs because I find the NPM ecosystem, imports, TS setup and config etc. messy and time consuming versus

vast.ai was pretty bargain basement last time I used it. Anything peer to peer will be cheapest as you get to use non-datacenter GPUs and many sellers will be gamers happy to get free space heating from their sunk cost. Probably only scales
