Where’s that idea coming from? I’d wager >95% of LTS linux distributions released in the past ten years are still rock-solid if you’re just exposing 22, 80, and 443. Even PHP5 is still de facto bulletproof if you’re paranoid about not tr

I totally agree with your general point, but in case you haven’t tried it, disabling “Slide to type” massively improves iOS keyboard accuracy. (Picked up the tip from another thread on here about how sloppy the iOS keyboard is, and have sub

In case it saves anyone a headache: Pivoting with Postgres’ JSON features (json_build_object and json_object_agg, specifically) is usually less difficult than crosstab IME. I’ve used it for exactly this same sorta metadata logging.

What’s your issue with dynamic SQL in this case? I’ve written aiosql functions that use dynamic SQL (via plpgsql) just fine.

If you’re on iOS, Apple gates Firefox from using JIT JS compilation which massively hinders performance. E: I was wrong/extremely out-of-date - it does have JIT but relies on the Safari/Webkit implementation. In ancient versions o

Bokeh is an option in the frontend-viz space that puts out pretty solid SVG for statically-rendered charts, while also having the option of more Tableau-like interactive functionality with input fields, dynamic filters, etc. Might be a dece

You’re filtered for commands used on the current machine by default, though there is an easy toggle to search remote-host commands too.

Atuin has been the absolute best CLI tool I’ve found in years. I use it every single day that I’m at a computer. It's very easy to learn (2 or 3 essential hotkeys), and makes finding old shell commands a breeze. I was able to self-host

Barring really clean technique, 1200lb+ combined total club is when I’d expect it to be practical. (Basing this off having visited the stone and toyed with it - but I’m not an experienced stonelifter speaking from expertise.)

I’ve been a Navidrome user for a few years now. It’s been extremely stable, and runs extremely smoothly for my 300GB library on a $5/mo VPS with slow disk. I pair it with beets to organize, autotag, and convert. (Happy to share beets c

Do you truly think “supporting” veterans by giving them a chatbot instead of a mental health provider is a good thing?? I personally can’t see it being an effective or efficient use of taxpayer dollars.
