Because it's how normal people think. This under that. This after that, left-aligned with that. Text modes are the most basic tech supporting it. Css uses boxing with no sugar (like size groups or custom allocation). Boxing is this in

The internet says the borders are 1px since w10, but the actual resize handle area on my pc is much thicker and is adjustable, cause I remember changing it. Windows surely has its quirks in dumb places. But what linux desktop achieved in th

This is a valid concern, as a stranger you can't know if this design doesn't have a surprise. And then there's this potential contact point at the bottom of V.

Solid advice, but choosing good hw for the rig is already a challenge. Tick the virtual "linux" checkbox and you often get an empty list. That is, if you have that checkbox, in any sense. How the hell should I know if a mobo/

Imagine coming into the mac world with a 10.5 cd and upgrading to the current 10.6 and then watching it deteriorate through years into 10.10. Yeah that's me. Peeking at a glimpse of perfection only for it to flash and fade.

It's not like kde is either. In windows I have never thought about carefully moving the cursor through start menu. In kde it's one wrong move and you're in a different section, cause in 25 or how many years they didn't f

Same. I disabled calls from non-contacts, and then my phone stays in silent mode all day, unless I expect calls, like friends coordinating a meeting etc. I also mostly keep it away, either in my pocket or on a shelf. Or wherever I left it.

It doesn't. "All the haskell" is your protective decoy against "it's not that useful when you're not chained to the wall". Show me a lens with a bunch of other fp tricks and I'll write dumb inline cod

They don't surpass Turing Machine level, so I'm not convinced. The idea of ?. was there since the beginning of times. You don't have to dig deep to realize that (x ? x.y : nil) and (x ? x : y) sucks. Even gnu C had (x ?: y) f

As a python meh-er, this is actually good design. Everyone is jumping on C that it has no strings, but then other languages throw raw strings at you with some interpolation and call it a day. Also it's 2025 and people will still commen

Is there a well-known benchmark for this? I don't feel that short vs long answers make any difference, but ofc feelings aren't what we can measure. Also, if that works, why doesn't copilot/cursor write lots of excessive

As we reached such thin matters, can we have now "ui: modular" and "data-changes: async autoupdate"? Cause using a tight userland framework for components and [a]syncing data to ui starts getting a little old.

No one really supports it or expects it to work. The best of what you can expect from an arbitrary date system is that it naively projects gregorian regime back into the past. In precise-historian mode this makes sense, but otherwise people

Templating doesn't write in the middle. Writing in the middle is a medieval rudiment of manual configuration helpers. Automated config generation simply outputs a new file every time you run "build" and then somehow syncs it
