There’s a 0% chance that musk has any private interest in reducing bots. Bots was his excuse to try to get out of an obviously shitty deal that he made. That’s it.

I didn’t say I agreed with the author. Just their logic. I think they are conflating free will with freedom and capability and it sounds a bit off the rails.

That’s a complete mischaracterization of that situation. The conversation DID ask if it was a leak. Then they studied the evidence and only after studying the evidence did they publicly sign that it was probably of natural origin.

Sorry, where is this documented that this lab is known for leaks? To my knowledge, as of 3 months ago, the only “tangible” evidence for a lab leak was that china cleaned up before the WHO arrived and could better investigate. You are the fi

That’s not the argument being made there. At a high level, the argument is that free will is an illusion that is highly constrained by your environment. In fact, your own example of punching him in the face only serves to support their case

It’s a pretty common workflow for big business. Wait till you hear how businesses intentionally pit employees against each other by granting different benefits at different levels so that the majority doesn’t feel as bad about things. This

Organizations will do whatever they think is cheaper. Convenience doesn’t matter. The manager will say that SaaS costs half as much and then we get the direction to move. When the pendulum swings to “On-Premise will cost half as much”, we w

If that was true, then there wouldn’t be database clients that are 100% faster than competitor clients and web servers that are several hundred % faster than slower ones, don’t you think? “IO therefor slow” is a “myth”. IO is slow, but the

There’s a far cry difference between “being skeptical” and “live in an alternate reality” though. A lot of people use “be skeptical” as a means to reject what’s right in front of them.
