so is the 10-20% in velocity worth the money and the process-complexity added? I'm assuming you're measuring your own velocity, not your team's, since that includes time to review and deploy etc.

You can change the max_connections in RDS though. The default is insanely high and I have no idea what it is that way. 4vCPU instances running with 5k max connections iirc, I have never seen an instance this size handle more than 100-200 co

What often baffles me with engineers and especially engineering managers is that they don't derive the estimates from metrics of prior projects, especially for long running teams (as opposed to project teams). You don't need to es

Why do that if your competitor already has it? I'd just go talk to the competitor instead. If you aren't able to ballpark when the feature will be done, why should I trust you will once I pay part of the price?

I actually started doing this for side projects that I use as a vehicle for learning and not necessarily to solve a problem and it's been great. 1) I don't feel like I just commissioned someone to do something and I half-ass check

I dont know why this is downvoted. Even though the vast majority of startups fail, the outcome of an attempt is an experience thats much more valuable than any class you attended at MIT in the eyes of future employers. It would also equip y

I ran into the exact same problem few weeks ago too with around 1k partitions but they were small. Ended up adding cronjob to run analyze on the partitioned table (not the partitions!) once a day. I hope this gets fixed in future version of

This has been my experience too. At the end of each session, i’m left very exhausted mentally without full understanding of what I just did, so I have to review it again. Coding this way requires an effort that is equal to both designing, c

You dont have free healthcare. You pay for it like tech employees in the US do and you probably get worse service. At least there is a chance in the US to make generational wealth for a middle class, but no way in hell in Europe.

I think of big lifts as ones that involve large muscle groups over a long range of motion, so I think of pull ups as assistance or accessory. They help a ton in the main lifts for sure. Do them anyway regardless of category :D
