How an Earth are you being exploited by putting a copy of your bank card on your phone?

“You” in that context was the entity pushing the feature. I’m not sure what point you think you’re making about Facebook tracking tbh, but I don’t use Facebook so you’re asking the wrong person; to claim I am mindlessly defending dark patte

Apologies for the implication you’re stupid, I didn’t really mean that and it was uncalled for at any rate. I don’t disagree regards dark patterns, your example just felt a bit irrelevant to the specific topic being discussed (Amazon pushin

Yeah you’re right, there was no need for the last bit. I’m still struggling to see the relevance though, trying to get me to buy things is very different from trying to get me to use a feature you profit from (in my opinion). You also have

How is that even relevant? Your phone was trying to onboard you to a _free to use_ feature. If you can’t see the difference here, then I suspect there probably was a button labelled “fuck off” and you didn’t see that either. Honestly.

I keep meaning to set something up on my namesake-domain but life gets in the way. Here’s a link to my security-things blog, which is generated with Pelican and hosted on S3 behind Cloudfront: https://lovesexsecretgod.com/

Could their employers not just pay them a reasonable wage? I’m already likely to be overpaying for the food/drinks being served which is supposed to cover the business overheads, if it doesn’t you have a failing business. I don’t see h

I assume it wasn’t your intention, but I read this comment as very harsh on the author. I, too, remember the 90s and I think calling OP a script kiddie was somewhat uncalled for. I don’t work in security, but I’ve always been very intrigued

Isn’t the point of “polite notice” that it looks very much like “police notice” when glancing quickly? That is certainly how it is abused by horse riders on the road around here.

Thanks for the Solovair mention, the Mrs is currently going through the process of buying Docs (online, so stacks of boots in the hall) and I think I've convinced her to give them a go. I do enjoy a well-made boot.

I received a C&D from Facebook many moons ago. I was a young man and absolutely shit myself, to the extent that I don’t even have the source code anymore. All I did was publish some CSS to make Facebook look a little less shitty.
