> trivially easy That’s the problem. It is trivially easy, 99% of the time. But that misses the entire point of the article. If I got 99% on an exam I’d say that was trivially easy. But making one mistake in a hundred is not ok when i

For me what’s important is that you are able to communicate effectively. If you use language tools, other tools or even a real personal assistant if you effectively communicate the point that ultimately is yours in the making I expect that

Yes exactly. My hunch is to remember that in `auto [to, ec] = std::to_chars(p, last, 42)` the two names `to` and `ec` are not "real" variables/objects, but names bound to parts of the object returned to by `std::to_chars`.

Yes ok. And legacy code might be a good example where grep works well, if it's fair to argue a greater propensity for things like preprocessors, older languages and custom builds that may not play as well with semantic-level tools, let

Did you consider Neovim? You get the benefit of vim while also being able to mix in as much LSP tooling as you like. The tradeoff is that it takes some time to set up, although that is getting easier. That won’t make LSP go any faster tho

Because - and more so for the maintainers/managers of those projects - being able to communicate effectively is part of what it means to run a successful project? That may even mean that you have to hold yourself to a higher standard t

Thanks for this. It seems you got that I misunderstood. I've clarified my point in another reply. Also agree that if this is a question that keeps coming up a much better response would be to simply explain your reasoning once in an

Yes ok, I did read the thread but didn't get the reference. I wouldn't say it's "quite remarkable", more simply that I misunderstood. My apologies. But I stand by the broader point that I do not think his attitude

But the risk/reward is the same regardless of the frame of reference. It's the difference in the perceived risk between gaining $10 and not loosing $10, even when the odds are the same. And we know that while rationally its the

Yet the way git is used is still similar. Both lead with ‘git’ in their name, both append a pithy three letter suffix to ‘git’ that both describe some kind of space where people meet to do stuff. Surely that’s more than just coincidence.
