The manner in which international drug prohibition began and the manners in which it is sustained are not equivalent. To say public opinion is the most important aspect is reductive.

It's not a cop out. There are many parties which share blame: the Public for its fearful ignorance and fear, the prisons for profiteering and massive media and lobbying influence, law enforcement for enforcing the "lex malla"

While your conclusion is true, for-profit prison systems are a clear conflict of interest and certainly influence media and lobbying. Law enforcement has spread its fair share of misinformation and unnecessary violence, as well.

Lazy loading leads to more requests, which leads to more latency, slower apps. Better to handle this stuff as a build step with RequireJS or browserify.

Oh hey, Pavel :) What're your "killer features" that are lacking for ACL in Node in your experience? I'm becoming severely intrigued by the idea of using specialized proxy servers for applications like this…

I've found that with a stack based around middleware (Express) , that it's now very easy to add open source modules to handle these features for you. What interests me a lot at the moment are HTTP proxies that provide features lik

Baucis takes the approach that monolithic frameworks are more costly in time and resources to build software with in all but the short term, and only then sometimes. Long live small libraries! Putting that conversation aside, I'd be v

It's just DNS, which doesn't bring port into the picture. A domain name resolves to an IP address separately from whatever ports the server at that address might listen on.

REPLs are great way to teach kids about coding. For me: Applesoft BASIC (Apple ][e) -> Level I BASIC on TRS-80 -> FutureBASIC (Mac 68k) Those are the BASICs I learned before moving on to Java, C#, then JavaScript. FutureBASIC was rea

Shockingly, I was alive in the mid-90s :) It's also a given that any GMO tomato would be a hybrid, a.k.a. a cardboard-esque rubber ball. A little experience and common sense can go a long way in determining something's flavor (l

As GMO tech progresses, we are seeing strange side effects like interference with the monarch butterfly and bees, soil depletion, a drive for deeper genetic modification as weeds and insects adapt to old versions, a draconian patent structu

I can't help but feel that this is akin to complaining that someone gave you the cart, but not the horse. You can buy or build your own horse, or rent someone else's. It doesn't stop the cart from being freely given.

I too think Angular is overly complex and "magical." The JavaScript world should be learning from the mistakes of monolithic and semi-monolithic frameworks such as ASP.NET and SEAM not trying to recreate them. For my part I'd
