I think the "check box" in this case should be the act of opting into 2FA. I've expressed this to Discord before when asking why they require reCAPTCHA upon login, even for an 2FA-enabled account like mine.

Luckily I never had all my eggs in Discord's basket, and thankfully so. I will remember this, and I know they are welcome to discriminate against Tor or any other traffic, but that just means they opt for lazy solutions and don't

Honestly I can't be 100% spiteful toward Discord. Their customer service at least allowed me to easily begin the deletion process for my now-useless account. Compare this to Twitter, Google, or Yahoo!, where it's actually really d

For free services, I'm the product, not the customer. I understood this and used Discord regardless, because at the time it was the easiest way to talk to certain communities (mostly gaming related). If I was using Nitro, I'd have

Someone else suggested I should have done the same, but again, I've had prior issues with Discord and really just wanted to be done with it. This account issue set me back a little, and I can't participate in some communities I&#x

I'm probably going to leave phone companies entirely, when I'm no longer on my family's plan, and set up a VoIP number because it'd give me hands-on experience with how VoIP works and it seems more cost-effective for my

The post is entitled "Guess I'm done with Discord", not "I'm entitled to my Discord account and everyone who disagrees with me is an idiot." As I said in another comment, my post was purely informative and not

Just a note: I do not ask to have my blog entries submitted to this site, precisely because the comments I receive here are very assumptuous and negative. I have had prior interactions with Discord which influenced the tone of my E-mail. My

Sadly it's unmaintained, but since I like it lots more than the alternatives, I'm hoping to fork it and pick up development in my free time.

Speaking as someone who's used IRC for nearly a decade and who has developed extensively for it, it most definitely has not stayed simple, what with all the nonstandard extensions every network has brought with it. And while I dislike

I think the best approach to the issue of IRC not being federated is to create a separate protocol that can not only do that, but also learn from the mistakes of IRC. By design IRC is not very extensible, and because of the initial limitati

Charybdis and ratbox are both installable in that fashion and easy to configure, not to mention they are also more stable, better-programmed, and better optimised for large networks than ngircd. With ngircd it's trivial to cause a nets

GitHub promotes a walled-garden approach to development. People who use it will want you to have an account on it, and some people such as myself cannot or will not use GitHub at any cost. I have my own cgit instance I host my own code on,

You should at least have a backup of your private key so you can import it on your new phone rather than having the sender re-encrypt to whatever key your new phone decides to generate.

If application- and transmission-protocol-level DoS vectors are fixed, then you're left with just the raw "lots of traffic" volumetric attacks, which means your attacker has to have a lot of compromised hosts (or the right co

I'd love to see a network infrastructure and transport protocol that's more resistant to many (D)DoS attacks, because it seems like things will only worsen if it never becomes more difficult for people to attack others' serve

For Tor and I2P hidden services, HTTPS is redundant so I don't really see the point in punishing people for things like this. Loopback sites are an obvious exception to the "HTTPS is better" rule as well.

Yeah, the Issues function of a repository can be disabled, most useful for if there is already a way to report issues with a system such as Bugspray.

Although I agree it isn't cakewalk to memorise an onion URL, it is possible and many people do it usually by grouping or mnemonics. I'm not against any change/improvement to the current address generation system in Tor; there
