How do people here feel about feedback for technical tests that take at least a couple of hours? Personally I don't care if I'm not given feedback after a phone interview, or even an on-site interview. But when it comes to technic

In my recent project, I try to do as much as possible through serverside rendering, obviously there are things that still require JavaScript. I just extract those out as components. Right now I’m using WebComponents, but you can easily use

I see some of my colleagues (mostly front-end devs) don’t even know how to write code that’s not SPA + API, it’s pretty sad. It over complicates every project, and like you said, MVC in most cases is enough.

I think that for a lot of people, SPA + API is just the default, even though most of the time you can get away with a traditional MVC.

I would be more interested as to why there is so little response from different demographics in the first place, even in Europe there’s little response, except for a few countries. It seems to me they mostly targeted English speaking countr

I was so used to building SPAs and APIs, that it seemed the default to me. But I always felt it was slowing me down, I had to switch between multiple terminals, multiple editor windows, things had to be tested twice (on both FE and BE). I d

One of my colleagues (a backend engineer) was a CTO of a failed startup, he always talks about it. So one day I decided to talk to him about his experience, and it quickly became clear, that he as a CTO, was only focussed on technical work,

I can relate to how you're feeling about Shenzhen. I live in Hong Kong, and often visit Shenzhen. I personally feel that HK is more of a Chinese city than Shenzhen. Especially Futian is hyper modern with new buildings everywhere, it&#x

It’s not just knowledge, I can actually do all the work, and yes, I could design solutions. It’s just that my real deep knowledge would be FE. But I consider myself full stack because I can do both sides without a problem. In my team I’m ju

The hardest part about building a SaaS product for me isn't the technical challenges (although there are some too), it's mostly anxiety. The thing that scares me the most is launching and receiving negative feedback, the thought a

I need to disagree with you here, I consider myself full stack, but if you were to ask, FE would be my deep experience. And for me this is perfect, I have no problems with any FE work, and the same goes for BE work. Sure, we have BE engine

Most of it is just being in the unknown, it’s incredibly frustrating to just having to sit there and wait not knowing what’s going on. Obviously I can continue to do work, but the frustration is still there. Like I said, for them it’s natur

Just a personal story; but I think remote work can only work if the entire team (or at least the majority of the team) is remote. I'm currently the only remote person in the team, and it's so frustrating. For them, getting me invo

I would personally use Jekyll, it's pretty easy to build, free to host (thanks to Netlify or Github pages), perfect for SEO since it's all static content. There's tons of themes available: https://www.jekyll-resour

I recently did a project that used the create-react-app CLI, and felt a bit anxious. I know the setup that create-react-app creates, but I still prefer to write this all myself. Most, if not every project I do, I start from scratch, and bui

It's the same thing in Hong Kong, they have some prime real estate. I wouldn't say their offices are packed, but they're always full. Startups or anyone in need of office space on a budget just isn't able to afford a pro

You know what; apart from that floating box in the corner right, I’m okay with the rest of the ads. Yes, they’re there, but I can still see all content, so it doesn’t bother me that much. But like I said, they have to be there on page load,

My main reason for blocking them is that they disrupt me using a website. I'm fine with ads being on top of a page, or in a sidebar, as long as they don't cause any interference. More than often, they cause the page to jump down,
