Maybe I used to follow the wrong people, but a lot of these prominent thinkers didn't really invite discussions, they just made constant statements, where if you didn't agree, the only thing you could do was write a short statemen

Currently living in Hong Kong, a city that's going through a big crisis right now, it's amazing how different news organizations portray what's going on. I don't think there's a single one that's actually neutr

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great. Just that with the current examples it’s not that useful to me. Callbacks would be cool!

While I agree with you that it's super annoying to be browsing in dark mode, just to open an app or website that hasn't implemented this. But I disagree that Apple should be doing all the work, I really don't want them pushin

I was also a bit confused as to why the title was "DarkMode Made Easy", especially since your example just showed adjusting CSS variables. I would assume anyone who's working with CSS variables, also knows about media queries

Here in Hong Kong that’s pretty common too, I’m still super surprised people actually do this without fear. I regularly work in coffee shops, but when I need to use the bathroom I always take all my stuff with me.

I recently had to travel home last minute, this is a 9.400km trip, amazingly it took me less than 18 hours door-to-door, probably could've done it in less than 16 hours if I didn't leave to the airport so early. I could care less

If a job description focusses on how "fun" the company is instead of the actual work, it's pretty much a red flag for me.

If you run scrum, then every ticket should be talked over, and large changes should be discussed. Every change? No. Architectural changes? For sure. A rewrite of someone else’s code? Most definitely.

The main thing is indeed the communication, it would solve most issues.

I care more about the way it gets replaced. I constantly learn from my code being replaced, and replacing code myself. However I doubt anyone liking code being pushed onto them. That’s how I feel when someone decides to rewrite code without

It’s not about personal feelings or self esteem, it’s about trust within the team, and confidence that when you do something the team sticks to it. When a rewrite is required, the team talks about it and then acts.

I think you’re missing the point as to why I might lose confidence. I’m fine with people being better than me, especially when they explain why they did certain things. But we work as a team, that means that before we do work, we agree on o

I'm with you on this one, I've seen people rewrite things like this, and to me this is just personal preferences, and it's something that the team need to agree on.

I need to disagree with you, I've been in a few positions where one engineer suddenly decided to rewrite parts of the code base without any input from other engineers. It's a huge blow to team morale, and it gave me a fear of writ

And this is coming from your own personal experience? I've never been in a scrum team where we as developers had any say in what the scrum master was doing. The most we could do was retrospectives with other developers, and try to impr

I honestly haven't met many scrum masters who don't just preach the scrum guide. Even if the team is struggling with the way we do Agile, the scrum master will just continue to force the scrum guide onto the team. What I currently

Exactly, and those scrum-masters are usually good at talking and getting the business on their sides. There's literally no way to change those processes without making yourself look bad.

This obviously only works when your scrum master is willing to take feedback on scrum processes. Which, with most scrum masters is not the case, you’re essentially telling them they’re doing a bad job, and it usually hurts their ego.

It saddens me to say, but this is so familiar. Especially working in a big corporate company where they hire scrum masters who just follow the scrum guide.

I would be interested to know more about this, because for me time isn’t the problem, it’s my lack of focus. During my recent holiday, I took a different approach, and instead of telling myself to work on something from 9am to 12pm. I just

I've been rejected from engineering roles for those reasons as well. From my experience, it's just people looking at your resume, rather than actually trying to understand the candidate. In my case it was because I studied design
