China is having quite a few problems on their hands though like the implosion of their real estate market that is tied to nearly everything else due its size. Their exports are down from companies decoupling somewhat with “China + 1”. In th

You never know. We could get AGI next month … The world would change overnight. The thought of how it’s all going to play out scares me. That said I think LLMs are overhyped.* If we are to get AGI, it would probably be a novel model. * It’s

Machines will be able to do that too. Hell, non-AI algorithms are already doing that - e.g. social media algorithms picks what should be promoted to individuals; of course they are working for the social media company rather than those indi

Doesn’t explain the lack of romance though - which sex (or at least the expression of desire for) usually comes with. I can understand holding back on the PDA if you are making an evening TV shows watched together by families. But in PG-13

Google’s web products have always worked with Firefox to my knowledge. Maybe they run a bit faster on Chrome but I don’t recall them ever being broken on Firefox. Perhaps I’m wrong. Can you cite incidents of Google’s stuff not working right

Frankly Firefox is barely a hedge against Chrome. When it comes to things like JPEG-XL they are in lock step with Chrome. Safari ended up being JPEG-XL’s unlikely champion. I kind of wished Apple would release Safari for other platforms aga

Some people do. I switched back and forth. But most people are “low frequency” switchers. Chrome is ahead often enough that most people stick with them.

That’s not how I remembered it. Chrome really was a good browser and I would argue is still a good browser (for now). IE got displaced by Firefox’s predecessors because MS got caught napping - they disbanded the IE team thinking they have w

Frankly, I think it’s less “moving closer to the user” and more just securing control over the path users use to get to their service. Chrome was made to prevent whoever controls the browser from blocking users’ access to Google. Android wa

Some of us are just old. We have seen countless hype cycles. Many hyped up things do not pan out. So we all have a “show me” kind of attitude now. Also for things that do pan out, they sometimes comes with unforeseen negative consequences.*
