Well, we'll just have to rely on our experience then. I haven't dealt with dedicated servers plans, but my impression of "DDoS" protection in that regard is that your traffic will get blackholed if it's bad enough.

From my understanding, no. The tools are not linked by code. I'm free to write a proprietary coreutils test suite and charge $100 for it, so long as it doesn't hook directly into the source of the tools. If it's only interact

I dare say most people who read the headline knew OpenSSL wasn't planning on killing itself after getting a few million dollars in funding.

I think some valid points were made. It also saddens me that "love of books" takes a back seat to "learn to read". What went wrong? Has education quality decreased? Has parenting quality decreased?

My job as a sysadmin is to keep servers running and log their status and errors. When a large team has many jobs: -Yes, I want central logging -I probably did buy nginx (you're telling me this was already available, but closed source?

Attention: Not everyone is tech-savvy, tech-anything, or security-anything. Saying "Security breach, no biggie" is not a proper way to communicate with the general public about a service for which they pay. -Scope of breach? Check

Since this thread is potentially used for feedback, and no upvote numbers are provided, let me say: this. While the new features are welcome, the new presentation is not, at least for me. Now I can't even describe the old format, or cr

What sort of tools can I create in Go? Say I'm someone who programmed six years ago and since then has only a cursory exposure to Python, some Scala and Perl. What "real" applications, desktop, server, web or otherwise, shoul

Obviously at least several people didn't know what BPG was, and I have been spamvoted down for it.

Even the first argument doesn't make sense to me. The optional argument is within the scope of the function; why is the temporary optional argument getting carried over?

I can imagine generics being useful if you create large amounts of context-aware types, like was discussed in an HN post a week or so back.

Postgres is winning the war with MySQL, if you're going to classify it that way. And from everything I've read and heard on HN, Postgres is constantly improving on clustering/HA fronts.
