I don't think they'd have put Duane Reade in the headline if one of their employees killed themselves. Probably wouldn't be a story at all, actually.

200M is enough to last any person intergenerationally along with their children and grandchildren. Not disagreeing with you, just a point of emphasis.

The presidential campaigns had a billion dollars apiece, plus more from SuperPACs. Blaming the Russians for the outcome is just evading responsibility.

Very different assertion. OP was saying Russian elites installed Trump and us Americans were helpless victims.

What do you mean by 'cost of influence'? If I don't want influence, is it optional?

I could criticize or compliment all 3 depending on the topic or my mood. If we're so much better in the west, maybe we can hold ourselves accountable and question our own biases.

You will never, ever see a mainstream western news org demonize the US the way they do to Russia and China routinely. Are they the exact same? No, but they're not so different when you zoom out. You don't need explicit censorshi

Fish don't know they're in water. If you've been ingesting a narrative since middle school, and the BBC reinforces it, well that's just good neutral unbiased reporting.

1. "True but we think it's irrelevant" does not equate to "false". 2. "But america are the good guys" is the exact kind of thing you see uniformly from all American media including NPR.

It's still federally funded. Twitter probably shouldn't have gotten into labeling who is and isn't state funded, but if they are, US/UK/NATO orgs should be fair game alongside the Russians and Chinese. NPR labeling

Political and economic forces tend to be more important than sectarianism when the rubber meets the road. France joined the 30 years war on the protestant side despite being the most catholic country in Europe at the time.

I think there's a programmed gut reaction to "unions" above and beyond any rational or cynical self-interest. It's endemic in American culture and especially American business culture.

Most of what we do in business is figuring out requirements and breaking down a big project into manageable tasks. The code winds up feeling like an easy afterthought once that's done.

Why is "facts" in quotes? I'll note, again, the passage you linked wasn't about crime rates or african americans. It was about your reaction you're having here.

You're kinda proving the point here. Scott said that if someone mentions this 100% true and uncontroversial statistic without also including a bunch of defensive verbiage, most people will shoot the messenger. He didn't say anyth

The Flynn Effect is what we call the phenomenon of IQ rates going up across the board over the last 75 years, it's established as true yet nobody will claim that we all got genetically smarter.
