Your tax dollars pay for roads the same way the tip jar at your coffee shop pays for the barista's college tuition... true in a sense, but ultimately meaningless.

The Chrome devtools make adding a logpoint as easy as setting a breakpoint. So instead of adding your print statement, and rebuilding the app you can do it live. I think this is strictly better as you still get to enjoy the mental exercise

You don't actually need to do any of this stuff to run typescript. You could use Deno, ts-node, etc. to run code outside of a browser without a separate build step. And there's nothing wrong with using tsc to compile your code to

Maybe you're just not familiar enough with React? The core of it is actually quite simple, it's just a giant while loop tree traversal that gets triggered either imperatively (by calling one of the React.render* functions) or in r

This reply is basically a shitpost. You asked for a source and got it, and then complained it wasn't good enough. The linked article actually sources from a local news report. Where's your evidence that this report is incorrect?

The actual workouts are the same stuff you can find for free on Youtube. There's some gamification where you can see your effort relative to other users during a workout (the "burn bar"). The HIIT workouts (maybe others) come

IMO the reason is still stock-based compensation. Companies are run lean these days, and it's simply inefficient to reserve a pile of cash for paying people vs. using it for business purposes. Why do that when you can pay with stock? B

You try writing a UI that: 1. works visually at all screen widths and resolutions 2. returned from a server with zero knowledge of said screen widths and resolutions 3. without shipping redundant assets 4. responds immediately to user input

I think what might be more likely is that if today's terminal illnesses are managed, we'll simply move the retirement age later and keep people working into their 70s.

In any case, the original statement is silly in light of the fact that the origin of the much smaller SARS epidemic was still diligently researched and traced for 15+ years until it was finally found, in 2018: https://www.nature.

It's absurd that the past century of American foreign policy has conditioned us to associate humanitarian intervention with military aid. I also think that realistically there's very little we can do. The main non-military option

Do you consider progress bars and loading states "deceit"? It helps to know that something is happening, vs just a frozen UI with no indication of work being done in the background.
