This is one of those backwards features I hope never gets implemented. Just open your IDE/CLI and create the branch with one git command. Look at all the steps that that issue lists. It’s ludicrous.

Of course they are. The problem here is that every issue is locked so no one can react either.

> to avoid burning your retinas every time That kind of stuff is exactly why I’ve stopped going “dark everything.” Some apps/websites are and will forever be WHITE and, if I use dark mode plus max screen brightness (to increase cont

I guess I’ll be calling it the Uait Aus in Uoscinton because in my language “sh” is unreadable and contains no extra information. Some words have been imported and adapted into English in the past, but I doubt that nước mắm is one of them.

You’ll probably also need to debug it often on warm summer evenings.

Typescript can do it, so why not add the same feature to PHP as well? As a JS/TS developer, all I see is avoiding two characters: {}, everything else is possible in JavaScript and well-typed in TypeScript. PHP 8 save( value

I think the main problem is that there isn’t an easy way to set a hard monthly limit on these services. I use a bunch of “freemium” services like S3 and Google Maps API and I’ve never paid a penny. I use them because they don’t cost a p

Roofs aren’t infrastructure. Giving money to private schools just helps them raise the price. We should sponsor public K12 education so that parents never have to “afford” sending kids to school and can work instead of having to care for th

I think that’s akin to (pardon my analogy) feeding wild animals: Do it long enough and they become more dependent on you. I think money is better spent on education and infrastructure, so that value can be created by them eventually, not

Nespresso is great until you realize that you’re paying a huge premium to avoid using a spoon out of a coffee bag. IMHO, it’s only slightly better than using that next-gen juice machine we all know. I have a small espresso machine at home a

As a non-sales person I find it hard to believe anyone would spend $49 for something that is only very slightly different than dozens other high quality and free solutions. But apparently people did. And that’s why I didn’t make $20,145.92

“I’m lovin’ it” or a jingle in the background would be enough for many brands without interrupting the call. Clearly it would never be accepted though.

This isn’t meant to last. GitHub has been proxying markdown images for years to avoid exactly this. Probably they haven’t gotten around to fixing that here yet… but this surprises me.

Things like this make it hard to take Firefox’ stand on privacy seriously. They keep making “mistakes” like this all the time unapologetically. I marked the email as spam because that’s what it is.

The core difference is that a “carousel” as intended here generally contains text, and that’s specifically why it’s a bad pattern. “Scroll-through” photo albums are a fair way to display photos, however I still personally prefer a gallery f

Sorry but do you use full screen windows on a 4K monitor? I doubt any website is really designed to fill anything more than ~1400 horizontal logical pixels.

I don’t see any such option on the iPhone. Also it’s a problem if you lose your phone before you make any transfer. The previous answer made me think a bit more seriously about those reset codes that are lying around (maybe?) my computer. I

We haven’t gotten there as a society yet, but there should be a “don’t look for me if I’m lost/captured” checkbox somewhere. It’s my life. If I want to sail around Africa and I’m held for ransom, leave me to it. If I want to hike a dea

> BIOS messages I think the problem is right there. You’re living in the past so you get the past’s problem. I haven’t seen a BIOS message in a decade. I’m sure those U3011 are beautiful and hard to let go (I used to have a U27) but it’s

Doesn’t Apple already include an ARM chip in MacBooks with the Touch Bar? I have three feelings: 1. Apple will just enable the existing chips “today” and developers can ship ARM code to a sizable audience, with instant battery benefits. 2.

Vietnam’s numbers are incredible and I cheer for them, but I wouldn’t trust their exactness, given the country’s placement in the freedom of the press index as the 4th least free.
