Your story sounds just like mine. With all the extra hours I have, I am now thinking of working on a side project to see if it takes off. I am also looking to switch jobs because I gain nothing out of it other than a paycheck.

That's one part. I think another part is that the power dynamics need to change. Managers should be servant leaders. Instead, I see so many managers abuse their power to enrich their own position.

I will only do take home if I feel like the company is serious. If they are sending me a take home without meeting with the hiring manager, it goes straight to the bin.

I don't want to be too harsh because I am guilty of the same thing. The author is fearing shipping because he doesn't have customers. He is scared of failure. If he validated and found customers beforehand, he would be excited.
