That’s not enough. CAN-SPAM is nearly 20-years-old now, it’s not even a GDPR matter. The rule is pretty clear in having to provide an unsubscribe link in every email. It’s really quite annoying that companies have taken this “you can’t un

I thought I'd like that table, but in practice reading it is awful, it takes too long to actually match the subjects to the actions, which tells a lot about the state of "UI by engineers" If one wants to list the ingredients

From my experience, either an app reaches momentum and the author wants to monetize it or it was last updated 4 years ago. Non-monetized good apps are few and far between. One of which is actually related, by thai-language.com: https:&#x

So what? Italian automobile giant Fiat recently turned "FCA", which is the Italian equivalent of "PSSY" It's fine, people joke and then move onto the next TikTok video.

Man it's been a while since I read someone comparing raw specs. Android phones always looked better on paper but sucked compared to the iPhone experience in every way. I don't even say this as an Apple user because I tried so many

First thing I thought. PayPal is known to pull this kind of moves, now it’s Stripe’s turn to steal some money “for security.”

Have you ever bought a smartphone? You have to register to use it, you must enter your date of birth. Unless your parents are technologically illiterate, they will set it up as a device part of a family. That’s how they know. This has its f

> how soon until your phone makes your son sit trough an entire sex-ed class on his first NSFW internet search? I wish I received that the first time I looked for NSFW content (at 11). I’m totally fine with this kind of warnings for kids

Why use a git-specific tool when a generic one (rg) works just as well, even from a parent directory? I often use rg to search code across repositories so it's useful to have that regardless of grep and git

I'm a bit disappointed that this doesn't work in Apple Photos. The app does a fairly good job at recognizing photos and doing OCR, but you can't search the text.

I had a scheduled screenshot every few minutes for years. At time it helped me recover data that I lost but eventually I stopped using it and deleted my archive when I realized I couldn't police my screenshots. Any one of them could ha

Yes but is Microsoft any better from a data privacy/ownership standpoint? They’re an American company too and they have an ad business. How is Microsoft different for Europe?

Git is only commits. Branches and tags are references to the commits; one moves while the other one doesn’t. That’s it. Commits link to their parent(s) until the initial commit. You can visualize a “branch” as a series of commits, but the s

I think not many PDs would invest resources trying to avoid some private person’s username from being stolen. I’d be upset if it happened to me but I doubt anyone else would care.

So, good news? I hope this means more will go to underdeveloped countries now. The African continent averages at 40 doses per 100 people while the rest of the world is at 154 https://www.statista.com/statistics/1245573&

If anything it bugs me to see that the requirements are so low: > 720p Ok not too bad > more than 15fps I thought this was 2022, anything less than 24 is basically garbage and it’s pointless to even have 720p at that frame rate.

We’re saying the same thing: > Lots of packages in npm are broken in either CJS or ESM mode. And there's no way to tell without trying them. I blame npm for allowing that to happen. I get that it’s technically a third party, but the

Parcel is great, until it isn’t. I regularly try to switch to Parcel and it’s just impossible on larger projects. If you start with parcel, great! (maybe, as long as you just need to bundle 2 modules and that’s it)

I love these super-ambitious projects (see Parcel, Rome.js) because after several years they will still fail in many areas at once! > Rome is a formatter, linter, bundler, and more for JavaScript, TypeScript, JSON, HTML, Markdown, and CS

I keep not understanding why this "problem" exists. If pulling the lever kills someone, then you killed someone. You can only do that if it's yourself or if the amount of people you save grants you some immunity, like "

You see, it's not that ESM killed JavaScript, all the hacky build tools did. ESM was in the pipeline for an eternity and everyone took their sweet time to support it. You can use ESM without issue in browsers, Node and using proper ESM

I hope it will happen, but the pendulum is going back so fast right now. Some old words are being more accepted now, but people are becoming more sensitive to whole topics and specific trigger words, even and especially young people.

heh, you sure have a lot of time to write long HN comments for someone who gets 320 emails/hour. Feels like you need an assistant or two with that throughput.
