Exactly, Apple is making this a black and white choice on purpose. To make it unattractive to bypass them, and introduce legitimate security concerns if you do so. But those don't have to exist if the options were more fine-grained. Th

Yes even KDE recently introduced a new display manager that is completely tied to systemd. For that reason it's not supported on FreeBSD. But sddm still works of course. But it is a worrying precedent. From the gnome team this was to b

Ah I don't really have a second GPU to dedicate to it though. A virtual console like in VMware or QEMU/KVM would be great. Thanks for the heads-up about sylve! I'll check it out. For me it's all personal too. For work we

For spotify, just use spotify-qt :) I don't think docker works in the linuxulator though. That's the one thing I miss sometimes.

Yes they do but there's a team of maintainers that do just that. There's even ports of software which isn't officially supported on FreeBSD.

Ars also has a great writeup on this: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/03/buffer-overruns-lice... But yeah as I understand lessons were learned.

Oh you use bhyve? I've tried to use it but I dound it pretty difficult for systems that need a GUI. Maybe I should revisit.

I wouldn't call it countercultural. And Wayland actually runs on freebsd these days. I use Linux as well but I really like FreeBSD for a number of technical reasons. Like the ports collection, the jails, the first-class citizen ZFS. An

I don't buy that. They could have done more with it despite the constraints. There's been a big lack of interest from Apple for a long time. Just like every few years they introduce a completely new Mac Pro with all the fanfare an

It's really for closed user groups. At least meshtastic doesn't allow you to see other people's messages, only those in your own group. They're all encrypted.

Meh I used those with my old Kindle 2nd edition. It had a really nice leather case with a solder slide out light. But it wasn't nearly as good as the front light ones that came later.

Ah yes but that one is probably going to be much more expensive as it runs android and more powerful hardware. It won't support crosspoint-reader then either :'( Though you could install KOReader then, which is a good alternative.

Well that's the thing. I don't think anybody didn't use Edge because it was a different engine. The majority of users have no idea that edge is just chrome now. It's just when they moved to chromium they also stepped up

I need those to prevent panic attacks. Therapy is not effective against that. And they are not expensive at all. They cost me €10 a month when I didn't get them subsidised in the past. Also RFK is not about humanist approaches at all.

The whole point of them using chromium shows how little they care. The old edge wasn't used much no but that wasn't due to its engine. Most people don't even know what a browser engine is. They just didn't want to bother
