Canada is a very safe place but we require law enforcement officers to carry guns. There is a lot more respect for police, less mob violence, petty fighting and doesn't require a large camera network. Guns provide more respect.

In Canada this is not true and can be backed up with cases. If you live in an at-will state I completely understand you would have few rights. An employer can sue you for two weeks and any damages that comes from that event.
