I'm in my 40'ies. I grew up without computers initially and had a c64/amiga to play games on. I made a laptop for my kids which blocks all social media and only allows educational software. I think that the brain-dead enterta

I try to limit my kids exposure to electronic devices while they are small. I can't avoid it, but I try. I consider blacklisting YouTube at our house. The withdrawal symptoms look like people having tried drugs. This is scary. I notice

I bought one of the keyboard from https://ergodox-ez.com/ and I hate it. I stopped using it as I could not get used to it. I use a wired MS split ergonomic keyboard for daily work and seem happy with it. I use a simple logi

I use mobilepay when paying online. Its quicker than the credit card. But the service is owned by the greedy banks so it will probably end with me abandoning it because it will get too expensive when they have enough users.

Also I remember reading the exact same "story" on the daily WTF website .. ~20 years ago. It surfaces regularly. :)

Good to know. Often its easier to just ask them for stuff in the support department instead of having someone mail you something. I needed two screws .. a bit too small for mailing IMHI.

I agree. Store only apps are painful to use and there should be one app (or several implementering same apec..) that you can use (or not if you want to do it the old school way) to deliver your info to shops. The same app could be used by e

True. I got annoyed because Ikea has their app with all this info and all it takes is for someone to link it with their systems - they already do when you buy stuff there. But the use case is quite common in physical shops when ordering som

Your military will get weak when the clown replaces competent people with clowns loyal to the top clown.

So do we, but you can't produce the electricity at one location and consume it in another. In the non-practical sense where our government decided that this is not possible.

So .. it would make sense to make a law that requires new parking spaces to have a solar roof which can charge the cars which park there for a few. This would spread rather quickly, I think. I have solar panels at home and can charge a car

The options for men (besides condoms) are not much better. I'm not asking my partner (I'm married) to take any hormones while I wouldn't take any myself. The problem is that much medicine was developed by men for a long time.

Change jobs often. With each job change comes a raise (hopefully) and an opportunity to learn something new. For me this has been every 2 years.

This is good advice. A large toolbox containing different programming languages will allow you to solve some problems easier than knowing one language only. Perhaps Rust, C, Python, Bash (for CI stuff). Find a pattern book and at read it to

I use bluesky all the time and have yet to use the term "skeet". I don't think it's important. What is important is using a sane environment. X is completely crazy.

It should be a metric for compilers. The Rust compiler is also hard to understand while learning the launage but it gets easier when you know more Rust.

I write rust, c++ and python for a living. All in the same project. Learning rust was painfull. I tolerate c++, but I find modern c++ hard to understand. I hate gcc c++ error messages. They are the worst kind of error messages that I know.
