Notes are important for me.. I write a (private) timestamped diary which I can go back to and find out why I did something at a specific time when asked about it. I work as a consultant so I need to do this when requested, but it gives me a

This is a bad example. Google hired some VM specialists who worked out of their Aarhus office. I think they used their research for Android. I don't know if Google still does this, but we have (or had) a large number of people working

I bought the cheap IKEA variant and it uses the same crappy software. I once spent a couple of hours adapting a new device into the system.. in the end I had to flash it first and setup everything from scratch. I will not buy any more devi

I would really love to know more. You know .. those bastard Ukrainians are trying to make us think that everything sucks in Russia because of the war. But I guess that it doesn't matter much if you have money and connections.

I use Ubuntu 24.04 LTS for work. I used the previous version until a few days ago. I had no resistance from my corporate overlords over this. I get my work done and I'm more effective as a developer. The corporate MS apps all work in a

I spent a few hours debugging once because my code was built without asserts and I asserted that a function call in C returned true. So this is something that one needs to be careful about and perhaps run integration/system tests with

I would wish you would use proper units. ;-) But would using redundant systems separated in space connected with each other not offset the chance that they all would be affected at the same time? This is actually not rocket science .. just

This chopstick catch was really impressive. I had my money on them managing it the first time. I haven't been so excited since the dual landing of their Falcon 9 boosters.

I do work on software that is used by people. Nu software is usually embedded and I both create and fix bugs. :) I just never had to be on call for anything. I fix bugs during business hours. :)

Perhaps they want to have builds they can reproduce years later? When libraries are removed you have to update your build. This will not be the case if you use your own infrastructure (crates.io mirror).

This is not the case for me. I used some time on SO today and found only bad answers and gave up and started reading the source code of the examples from the library that I'm using. I think that people stopped contributing. I stopped s
