For many of us, cosmetic surgery is a point reduction. Hard pass.

Single, male, mid 30s, looking for the same. I've met many women like you who seem great on paper, but ultimately pass. Because qualifications don't matter as much as how someone makes me feel. If I could crack my own code I would

Consolidation is efficient. It frees up capital to be used elsewhere. No need for 10x accounting and marketing and sales department when 10 companies exist instead of one. Of course a homogeneous world is less interesting. And anti-competit

I don't follow what you've taken for granted. Why not buy the best product at the price you're willing to pay for it, even from a company with the values you share? Where does company size take precedent?

I will probably keep using it too. 1. I have such a nice python executable notebook setup with the hydrogen plugin. I have a lot of personal automation for my 9-5 job here. Turning it into polished CLIs is too much effort and there's t

I tried to build this once but found myself basically rebuilding Google calendar for visual changes which iCal mostly did quite well. And front end is not my expertise so it was a grind. I wanted both infinite scrolling with no month breaks

Free healthcare (i.e. paid for by taxes) would certainly make me vote to eliminate known harmful things. I don't want to pay for your choices. It's more than moral legislation then.

This is my experience too. There's lots of nice people out there trying to meet. You just need to know what you want, be actually ready to take the leap, and are realistic about your value (sorry to phrase it like that but it IS a mark

Jumping on here too. It's a lot of work, and can feel demoralizing.. but at the end of the day I go on way more dates than I ever did without apps. I attribute it to being able to display more about myself in a quick snapshot for women

Excellent description. I haven't thought about IRC since I was a kid (and not a software engineer). This brings about beautiful nostalgia and new found sense of elegance. Fond memories of staying up late into the night.

Thanks for posting, a real inspiration. This is peak development to me: to write high quality software to solve a problem I care about and make it available for others. If this sold zero copies, it would have all been worth it.

Kind of like practicing non-perfectionism? I received that advice from a friend once. Pick a domain with much lower stakes, and practice making decisions.

That's so interesting. I like all of those ideas in theory. Housing for living not profit, equality of opportunity for children, population at replacement (2 per couple) no more. I guess it really takes an authoritarian gov forcing it
