This looks interesting. Would anyone be able to explain why I would use this over something like Capybara? Side note: This is the same guy who gave us Vanity! Thanks!

This is some pretty sweet news. This was one of the reasons why I ended up not using AWS ELBs. I wonder if this will make an impact on Heroku's pricing for SSL. I assume they had to somehow get around the technical difficulties themselves.

I'm using Chrome on Ubuntu. I didn't realize they meant OS/browsers needed to take this into account. I just assumed they were talking about things to consider when designing a web application.

Interestingly enough, their own poll along the right hand side uses radio buttons, but does not have a roll-over effect as proposed by the article.

The concept is so simple yet addictive. Plus it works on a variety of platforms. This isn't even mentioning the fact that it's 6.9KB! Impressive.

Good catch. We had this working before but I guess it's a bug that slipped through. It's been logged. I don't know if you caught it, but there are some other table shortcuts like CTRL+Enter creates a new row below and CTRL+Shift+Enter creat

If you're talking about 12-15% after 5 years and not 12-15% per year, you can stick it in a GIC and not worry about risk. I'm in Canada and ING's 5 year GIC is 3% per year, which will end up giving you almost 16% after compounding (1.03^5 =

This is a nice little hack that I'll stick into my toolbox. The comment on the post about turning the workers on and off when needed is interesting as well. The commenter uses less than an hour on average per month using the method. I wonde

I agree that in some cases, guards, defaults and ternaries flow more naturally. However, I feel that there's a contradiction. You say that it is easier to understand but have learned to write them in plain old "if" first because it's bette

Read up on lean startups: http://www.startuplessonslearned.com/2008/09/lean-startup.ht... There is a lot of information out there about customer development and creating Minimum Viable Products. Very interesting concepts.

This is great news, except for the fact that there is still a huge percentage on IE6. Until people migrate off, it'll still be a pain in the ass to develop sites. That's one nice thing about the other browsers. Most users are on very simila

The last part about teaching is hard for me. I always feel that in order to teach, you must be an expert. Since I'm not an expert yet, I feel I might be teaching the wrong things and/or I can't answer their questions. This fear has stopped
