I afraid I nuked my installation already. There were insignificant features, like for their Playbook (or what the name is), where you are offered some extra feature, that goes with the enterprise plan. If I chose my self-hosted instance for

Hi Matthew, thanks for the clarification. Then, Matrix is the only player who does not cripple self-hosted instances, I assume.

First time I tested a self-hosted instance was a couple of weeks back. It was their official testing docker container. So perhaps there are versions without that, I don’t know. I assume you should be able to compile this without them, or at

Thanks for pointing that out. I was exploring self-hosted Mattermost recently, and completely missed this.

What about the software nudging you to subscribe to their enterprise plans here and there? Did you turned off this, or just ignore?

Still, crippling the self-hosted version feels like a red flag. Later on, they can easily introduce more features out of self-hosted version. That makes me feel more like ‘we’re business first, but we allow you plebs to contribute towards o

Last time I checked they cripple the self-hosted version, asking to subscribe for enterprise plan here and there. Source: deployed their chat locally a couple of weekends ago. Overall, I liked their Slack clone, they this one was a red flag

Please don’t downvote this advice into oblivion. As a person who owns MacBooks all his life, I do want something more open now, and honestly, I have no idea what else I can buy. Any polite input into this conversation is actually valuable.

My family members are all with iPhones, and their Passwords is very good. I only backup a couple of sensitive passwords to my pass store just in case. The rest of the passwords are basically disposable.

Well, in a way they are endorsed. They actively censor things they don’t like. Since there’s no moderation log, nobody prevents them from removing things just because they don’t like them.

Oh wow, so cool! Do you have some blog posts about that, YouTube videos, any line of journaling? Would love to learn about that experience.

I read the original comment like ‘we’d love to have another phone, a thinker one, that has this huge camera system, and also similarly huge battery, so there’s no bump.’

Oh, I remember these days. For one of my early days smartphones — Motorola MPx — I had like three or four pieces. That was great, also I charged them with a universal battery. Remember similar times with Galaxy S3 and S4.

But that’s not like it’s an extra battery, it’s a gizmo that charges your original battery all the time, isn’t it? So technically it doesn’t make your battery bigger, but akin to keeping your phone on charge all the time. I expect it would

I’m not very sure about the unscratched one, but I remember researching this a couple of months back, in Ukraine. And there were tens of good options (nice condition), for below $200 or $300. Which I consider a pretty decent value. I have n

And now I wonder whether that’s genuine or not. I can imagine someone being truly excited about a folding phone (I have a friend like that), but of course I can imagine someone doing that to promote something. A folding phone, maybe.

True, also mini phones are usually of an incredible value, you can buy them very cheap. Because, surprise, actually not everyone wants them. And they are seen as crippled gimp phones. E.g. a child had this phone, then pressed their parents

It has some extra features added, plus unnecessary ones removed, but I won’t recall the difference, since I use the fork for years (four or five, if I’m correct). I’m just pointing out this fork is worth anyone’s attention, it’s easy to com

I installed it with docker, it was easy. I haven’t tested it in a real deployment with real users, but I could easily test it myself, starting the server from my laptop. You clone the GitHub link, then `cd` there and run docker: docker
