A way of exploiting it is talked about in the article which would effectively allow Facebook/Whatsapp, or whoever is coercing them, to read all messages sent by a particular device.

I suspect it's a number of reasons. - I work to my own schedule. There's no artificial start time. If I feel like I've got something to contribute at any point I sit down and do so. If I feel inspired or get in the zone I

My own really short story, I (sysadmin/ops/programmer) currently work remotely about 4 hours per day, and I'm way more productive than when I worked 8.

I suffer from this too. The one month where I cut out alcohol completely I lost significant weight. Admittedly I exercised more too, but then months where I've exercised but not cut out alcohol I've not seen nearly as many benefit

Maybe, though you might be able to say the same about the president of the US. The people surrounding the leader of any given country I'd guess would be people who have background and links, kinda like a network of trust (I'm thin

Honestly not sure how well those really work either. As long as a majority (or lets face it, significant minority, see US election) can be manipulated into voting against their interests the only thing politicians need to fear are actual th

When the right wing got so right wing that anyone in any way intellectual would end up left of what they believed in perhaps: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-intellectualism#Fascism Have we seen the start of this in

At this point I have no faith in any of the political systems in place to really represent the people. People can already be manipulated into voting against their interests.

There is a secondary risk, and that is that ISPs (who IME often don't have skills or decent budgets for this sort of thing) are storing your data. At some point an ISP is going to get hacked for this data. At least re-routing to a serv

I would be interested to see what some of the people that were quoted in that rebuttal would say now. Speech is dangerous, speech is a weapon, that's why it needs to be protected, because people want to have the weapon only for themsel

That's fair enough, though I don't see anything quite as "extreme" as the examples of breitbart articles (which as far as I'm aware they are standing by). Everyone has bias, and everyone lies, and sometimes people j

That's a legit criticism, and likely shows a bias, though the paper did seem to acknowledge error, and the tone of the article was contrite, and lets face it, we're looking at a report of the paper's error in the paper itself

I wonder if we can mitigate this by rolling keys regularly. Daily perhaps? As far as I know there's no requirement to store encryption keys personally, only to give up the keys on request if available. Something that you can't do
