I interned at a language engineering research lab in 2003-2005 and I heard the exact same sentiment about DSL's from most people working there. All the typical examples are techie languages (SQL, Rake, ...). I've almost never seen a non-t

In retrospect I think I exaggerated it. But if we would somehow put our effort to it and invest a couple trillion in it, it may be achievable in this century.

Actually, the most interesting results won't be here til the second half of 2012, if you take the following [somewhat chauvinistic] criteria into account: - A really interesting planet orbits a planet similar to the sun. - The goldilocks zo

With current technology it's probably possible to build a 99%C speed [unmanned] spacecraft but it would cost hundreds of billions and we'd have to get over some politically difficult issues such as shipping tons of weapons-grade plutonium i

For this specific idea, I can imagine there being several items that add value. I just wanted the OP to clarify what he's offering. For example: Queueing multiple conversions as jobs Faster processing than you'd do on your crappy box

If you're looking for ideas and are into Open Source GIS, I may have a good one. I worked as GIS consultant for abiyt a year and there was one tool missing from the open source ecology that would have made work a LOT smoother. I'm still emb

$10 for an automatic conversion from one file format to another? For something that can be done with a handful of scripts? Or am I not seeing the added value here.

A polynomial is the sum of terms with powers in them. For instance: y = 3*x y = x*x y = 3*x*x*x + 5*x - 7*x Any polynomial you can think of will always, at some point, grow slower than an exponential curve. So it's not necessaril

People often (in a non-formal context) use exponential as meaning "more than linear". Any idea why this happens? (don't mean to offend the poster here)

Excellent remark. The demos are things that typically work just fine with tiled (e.g. WMS) raster images rather than vector data. It would be more interesting to see the vector aspect come to life.

WMS tiles are designated by such an URL. Implementing a WMS subset sufficient for something like this is close to trivial.

How does this compare to OpenLayers? Does it follow the OGC specs such as WMS, WFS, etc? Edit: okay, it does vector tiling. That's very nice. OpenLayers' vector support scales badly so this might help.
